Hi
Recently I asked for help with resolving a SharePoint 2013 Foundation event error [https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/a6b7b5a3-e1d7-4104-99b5-f15538999874/sp2013-foundation-health-analyzer-db-upgrade-required?forum=sharepointadmin#854e4120-c22c-4806-bbb7-1cf6bfd21670].
While the problem was resolved, a new issue has arisen which is more serious in that I now unable to create backups of the 'Farm'. There is just one installation on one server. I usually select 'Farm', click Next and the backup completes. Now, when I click
Next, the summary page loads and clicking OK shows that much of the backup finishes successfully except for the search components (which never worked properly in the first place):
The Application Event console on the server shows the following:
Log Name: Application
Source: Microsoft-SharePoint Products-SharePoint Foundation
Date: 20/10/2015 10:24:43
Event ID: 6398
Task Category: Timer
Level: Critical
Keywords:
User: HTLINCS\administrator
Computer: Atlas.htlincs.local
Description:
The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.Backup.SPBackupRestoreJobDefinition (ID d863ac42-c645-47a9-a11a-20d0e68883d7) threw an exception. More information is included below.
The backup job failed. For more information, see the error log that is located in the backup directory.

The SP error log shows the following:
[20/10/2015 10:23:33] FatalError: Object Search Service Application failed in event OnBackup. For more information, see the spbackup.log or sprestore.log file located in the backup directory.
COMException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {0FF1CE15-0005-0000-0000-000000000000} failed due to the following error: 80070422 The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices
associated with it. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070422).
Looking up this error suggested adding Network Service to the launch and activate and access components to OSearch15 using DCOM. I tried this but am still seeing the same error when running a backup.
Two accounts run various parts of SharePoint - the domain administrator account and a dedicated SharePoint service account named shrptsvacc. The shrptsvacc account is configured in Active Directory so that its password never expires and its password cannot be changed.
When I check the services console I see that one of the services is set to disabled:
When trying to start the services the error message stated there was a log on failure (how???). I reset the password - which involved typing the same password that has always been used for this account and the services started. However, after running the backup the search service is disabled.
This is the list of service accounts as seen from Central Administration:
When the Backup failure started I tried changing the services from the dedicated account to Local Service via the services console, but this did not help so I changed them back again.
I really have absolutely no idea why this is happening. Backups worked fine before upgrading the DB's.
For what it's worth the search server function is not required. It never worked properly (it couldn't even get started) and I eventually gave up and installed Search Server 2010 Express on a different server. I have no need to perform a search of the content of the SharePoint libraries, and use the 2010 search installation to search/index a couple of folders on a data server.
I don't really know how to fix this. I have very little knowledge of SharePoint so any help will be very welcome.
Thanks.
