Renamed user in Active directory not synchronized to site collection.

Dear friends,

We had to rename the username (e.g. Domain\P3332255 to Domain\newuser1) of 60+ users in the AD and need to sync it back to the SharePoint 2013 side. My web application consists of 7 site collections. After running the full sychronization I get the updated users for 6 site collections. But only for 1 site collection, still it shows the old user name. I checked the user properties within the site collection and I see the creation date is 12/01/2013 (an old profile).

What do I have to do to get the new user profile for this site collection ?

furthermore I tried, stsadm migrate user command. But it didn't work.

Thanks,

Nilanka

Issue Accessing SharePoint Central Admin | Okay using Locahost:port however

$

I cannot access Central Admin when going via servername:port. I can however access central admin on the application server when going via localhost:port.

Farm architecture wise we have two WFE servers, two applications servers and lots of search servers. Central Admin is hosted on both the application servers.

Symptoms;

I click Central Admin via the start menu, Internet Explorer opens up and prompts for my credentials. I input the farm account credentials. The login prompt continuously gets re-presented to me until the screen just turns to a blank white screen.

I know the farm account has access, because I can access Central Admin via localhost, I’ve also run PowerShell which tells me the account has access.

The Event Viewer is telling me Alternative Access Mappings have not be configured (as I’m accessing services via localhost:port when these are usually achieved by servername:port).

My Central Admin AAM Collection is configured as followed;

Internal URL                                                    Zone                                                   Public URL for Zone

AppServer1:port                                              Default                                                 AppServer1:port

AppServer2:port                                              Intranet                                               AppServer2:port

I simply want to access Central Admin the correct way, something is clearly wrong but I don’t know what.

Please help, Cheers

How to deploy SharePoint 2013 on premise farm across Geo locations?

Let's say for an intranet application on SharePoint 2013 platform we need 3 front-end servers, 1 app server, 1 search server and 1 DB server. Out of total 20K internal user 12K is in India and 8K in USA. They have data centers in both places. If company is having good money and they are willing to invest to get performance for both users, should they deploy same application in both places as 2 different farm or should they keep only in 1 place as single farm or should they split different servers of the same farm in 2 locations? in any of the cases how front end other servers should be connected? How others servers will be distributed? Load balancing works for distributed WFE servers?
Is latency issue is addressed if WFEs are dispersed across geo locations?

dropdown sorting in quick edit/datasheet view

Hi,

we have multiple SharePoint 2013 SP1 farms.

One SharePoint 2013 SP1 foundation farm behavior is unexpeted.

The issue is related to quick edit/datasheet view only (allitems.aspx).

Dropdown for customers lookup column is not sorted alphabeticaly but instead by ID. We would realy like the dropdown to be sorted alphabeticaly. The same allitems.aspx is sorted alphabeticaly when viewed in standard view.

On other SharePoint 2013 farms the dropdown is allways sorted alphabeticaly by the displayed column.

While researching this issue I found statements, that this is by design. This seems strange, because on our other farms the dropdown is sorted alphabeticaly. So the statement is probably incorrect.

Error Setting the Execution Account for Reporting Service

Hi,

I am running SharePoint 2013 with SQL Server 2014 SP1. I was able to successfully install reporting services and the sharePoint add-in. I successfully created a reporting services application; however, when I attempt to set the Execution Account I receive an error. Looking through the log, I cannot figure out the issue. I have tried deleting and recreating the service application but still get the same error.

August 2015 CU - List attachments give "File names can't contain the following characters:" message

$

After installing the August 2015 CU's, all sites in all web applications in the farm running on the SharePoint 2013 user interface have the following issue:

Any type of list with attachments allowed > Add or edit list item > Add attachment (in ribbon) > Successfully browse and select any file to attach > Click OK to add the attachment to the list item

A pop up stating “File names can’t contain the following characters:  & “ ? < > # {} % ~ ?/\.” is displayed.

These same steps work correctly in the same farm for sites using the SharePoint 2010 interface - this only seems to affect 2013 sites.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Office Web Apps Farm appearing in an 'unhealthy' state

$

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me here in regards to my Office Web Apps farm configuration w/ SharePoint and a frequent error I see in my Office Web Apps event viewer log.  I have found the answer to this issue and it worked great in development where my entire environment was internal meaning the FQDN was x.contoso.local and each hostname could be  a SAN entry on the certificate of x.contoso.local and y.contoso.local.  However, with production the FQDN for the office web apps farm is apps.contoso.ca where the servers are still x.contoso.local and y.contoso.local.  So as soon as the external certificate authority signs the cert they remove the internal entries as they no longer support this and the cert is sent back with only the external FQDN.  Which in turn causes this watchdog process to fail and cause the Office Web Apps Farm to appear as 'unhealthy'. As mentioned I resolved it in our dev environment due to the FQDNs all being in the same domain and signing the cert with our internal CA, this shows a 'healthy' state.  I am just wondering is there anyway to resolve this or is this something I should just live with because OWA is working with our SharePoint farm?

I am using adfs/claims as my authentication method for SharePoint 2013.  We see a weird this site has not been shared with you message after users token expire and they reautheticate back in.  Has anyone else seen this and know how to resolve it. Here are the steps of what happens.

  1. User syncs SharePoint Calendar to outlook
  2. token expires
  3. user reenters their credntials
  4. page redirects to this page has not been shared with you
  5. close page
  6. calendar is now connected.

Hi,

We have upgraded our SharePoint 2013 environment with August 2015 CU, after that we are seeing Upgrade Required status for Application server. When we ran the Config wizard first time, it got failed with Feature missing errors, after running config wizard again it went success but it showing Upgrade Required. This is not showing for the rest of the servers where the config wizard success in first attempt. We have ran the config wizard for couple times but no luck. Can anyone tell me why the status is not updating after the success of config wizard.

Your help will be greatly appreciated !

Doubts on SP infrastructure

My client has 2 WFEs. I have seen that the web applications and sites that I create in 1 server are mirrored in another server. But if I try to access sites under those web apps from another wfe using that wfe url, they don't load even though they are present. They typically show an unauthorized error or show the login popup 3 times before showing unauthorized. Why does this happen? Also, if a server goes down, can I use another wfe to open the same site? How do I set this up? I need to do it for an existing web application.

SharePoint Apps Credential Prompts for Login

Hi All,

I've been researching on the web like crazy about this and it seems to be a widespread issue with regards to SharePoint 2013 apps.  When loaded on any of our SharePoint sites if the user does not have the wildcard domain as part of their local intranet settings in internet options they are consistently prompted to login again.  Now I get the adding of the wildcard domain to the internet option settings resolves this but my worry as would be with most others is the compatibility across other browsers ie. Firefox, Safari etc.  The goal with our upgrade to SharePoint 2013 was to make the experience better for everyone across all browsers.  If we get into installing SharePoint store apps and users starting hitting those pages and consistently get prompted for logins this will become an issue and fast.  Is there any thoughts as to how to get around this or is this the only 'Microsoft' approved solution to the problem at this point?

EML not appearing in drop folder

Hello. I seem to be stumped. I have setup many SharePoint servers 2007, 2010, 2013 for incoming email and never had this issue. I believe I have all parts configured as they should be. However something is amiss. Initially I was getting message "#550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for..". I easily fixed that. Subsequent undeliverable messages are "The recipient e-mail system can't process this message now. Please try resending the message later." and "#< #5.3.5> #SMTP#" As I monitor the drop folder I never see the message appear. Also I do not see the contact created in the AD OU I configured. Can anyone shed some light for me? Again I think the basic settings are correct. I think it has to be the drop folder. Thanks.

Sharepoint 2013 claims based auth - Users logon fine but randomly when browsing switches to different user

Hi,

I have very bizarre behaviour on my SharePoint Farm, and I am kind of not sure what else to check / look for.

I have SP 2013 with one WFE, exposed on the internet as well. My users logon to the site fine, but when browsing trough it they would notice the name (top right corner) changes. It changes only on some pages in the session. It happens completely random both on the internal network and on the internet. When this happens they get the security of the wrong user as well. (For Example they click on mystic - about me and see another person)

I know it sounds crazy, but I am kind of able to see it in ULS although no errors. After digging and testing I was able to reproduce it from the internet - and it happens mostly when 2 people are having a session and clicking on the same link at the same time or almost.

We are using claims based auth with NTLM. The issue happens on all Web Apps. Its a new farm (6months), no errors or major issues, everything up to date ...

Any help appreciated

We have tried to create a new site collection page, but when we go to the usrl that the wizard tells us that the site is there, when we go there, it is just a blank page.

we have also done the recommended trick of in IIS set the status of "basic authentication" to "Enabled".

We have also created a new web application  and then tried to create a new site collection off of it, same thing just a blank  home page. nothing is there.

we are not using a host header

we have used the  publishing template and the  team site template and still just a blank home page.

Any ideas? Suggestions?  to get this fixed?

Hi, we would like to set up a medium sized sharepoint farm.

We would like to have a database server for all the databases of sharepoint collaboration site. and another server for reporting database server. so two database servers. one for ssrs reports db and site, the other is for SSRP intergrated with SharePoint.

Is that possible? the reporting database server will host a SQL instance that has reporting servers databases and report manager site for SSRS reports.

How this can be done regarding steps when setup sharepoint server and SQL server?

Please visit the link for more information.

I stuck at this stage of configuration more than 2 months and I search everything in Internet and Test it but none of them solved my problem.

Some of works that I tested:

1) Opening Ports that PP Control works with : 389, 636, 135, 137, 138, 139, 3268, 3269, 53, 88, 445, 749, 750

2) Setting up Kerberos Authentication and Double check the "Windows Service - Claims to Windows Token Service" works with the Service Account that i Setup for Kerberos.

3)Double check the ActiveDirectoryPath in People Picker Configuration Properties to haven't any Value and make sure it is haven't any scope limitations for searching users in active directory

4) Double check that Web Application Pool of Web Applications have same account as Kerberos Authentication Service Account.
