Corrupt Central Administration Database

$

With migrating the salesforce SQL databases to another disk the Central Administration Database became corrupt. All other databases are running fine. All sites are available and running except Central Administration.

I tryed every possible option to repair the Central Administration Database. No luck. Repair is not an option. Restore from a backup is also not an option.Unfortunately I only have differential Sharepoint backups without the full backup.

What can I do to reinstall Central Administration without affecting the other site's.

Configure permissions based on Group Claims for ADFS-Users

$

Hello,

i currently stuck with following scenariao:

I have SharepointFarm (2013) hosting Webapp with 2 different Zones - one for internal access (WindowsAuth) and another Zone for external access  with trusted identity provider - ADFS.

External-ADFS User uses certificates for authentication - this works fine so far. Sure i need to give the adfs-user separat permission (AD and ADFS-User are not the same). Finally i´ve read that it is possible to use the AD-Group-Membership to gain permissions in Sharepoint. Great! So i dont need to put every single (ADFS) user separatly.

I use LDAPCP from Codeplex to resolve the correct group in Sharepoint.

But it still wont work - a single user can join and have access based on his permissions, a new user (only member of AD Group/ AD Group(ADFS) is present in Sharepoint) can´t access any of the documents.

What do i need to configure? I´ve tried "Send group membership as Claim" in ADFS.

Any advice? Please let me know if you need more details on Platform, Configuration of ADFS, Claimsmapping in SharePoint.

Thank you for a quick reply.

Should IIS be running on ALL SharePoint servers and listening on port 80 for HTTP Ping?

I have some oddball issues in my event log and some of them appear to be related to inter-communication (intra?) between members of the farm. I worked on another farm several months ago and had to enable port 80 on all machines and use PowerShell to enable HTTP ping. I believe this was in support of Request Management. So...on the farm I am helping to rehab now I see that the previous admin disabled port 80 on the App Servers. This means that HTTP Ping works from App to WFE but not from WFE back to App.

"an error occurred with data fetch. Please refresh the page and retry" when open sharepoint 2013 setting cog on IE

My SharePoint 2013 has issue opening the top left cog: On amy page, every time when I was trying to click the setting cog and my name, an alert box will pop out

(System does not allow me to insert images, so screenshot is here:)

http://www.sfu.ca/~siyuanz/2.PNG

And also, under some subsite, my ribbon is gray off (and I am sure this is not a permission issue)

Screenshot: http://www.sfu.ca/~siyuanz/1.PNG

I tried to fix them by change the "Compatibility View Settings" but it doesn't help

These issues only happen to my IE (chrome, fire fox work well)

We have 2013 farm with 2 WFE/2 APP servers. This is happening only  APP1 and WFE 1 Servers. I have checked following and farm

Go to Administrative Tools—Local Security Policy—Maximize Local Policies—-Click “User Rights Assignment”—Click “Log on as a service” in right window pane, Add a SP Timer Service Account in here.

Kindly advise what could be another issue and how to fix it.

Workflow Manager 1.0: Lost track of WorkflowHostUri

I am installing Workflow Manager 1.0, for Sharepoint 2013 workflows.  However, I have reached the point of running Register-SPWorkflowService and found that the information I have for the WorkflowHostUri is causing an error.  Presumably the information is wrong.  How can I trace the correct Uri on the machine, or reset it.

User information issues following Sharepoint 2010 to 2013 Upgrade

$

Hello
I upgraded one of my SharePoint sites from 2010 to 2013 last night and converted it to claims mode using the Convert-SPWebApplicationcommand with the -RetainPermissions switch.

However, once I logged into the 2013 upgrade environment I found that my users could not log into the site.  I had to add the user group back in and then once I did that the users could get access to the site however the individual users could not get access to the libraries that they did have access to previously.  I had to readd the permissions using their domain credentials (domain\username) as when I selected them from the people picker it wouldn't add to the site properly.  Now when I look in my list of users in the collection I have some double ups.  Also when I select users from the people picker there are double ups.  I noticed that some of the users dont have the i:0#.w| in front of their user names.  These are typically the users I cannot add to permissions for the libraries.

Finally, if I look at the user information for a user it comes up with 'sorry, something went wrong'.  again, its looking for the users that no longer exist in the site collection.

Is there a way I can cleanly fix this?

special character in user profile concatenates job title in enterprise search site collection

$

one of the attributes imported from AD are job title through syncronization. Job title is also mapped to a MM term set in Manage User Properties in UP. Have the job title in AD as "Procurement & Administrative Assistant" and the term in the term store is the same "Procurement & Administrative Assistant" . After full sync and full crawl the job title on user's mysite is OK but in the enterprise search site collection under People concatenates both like "Procurement & Administrative Assistant Procurement & Administrative Assistant" . Noticed the "&" looks different in the term set than the one coming from AD but if I want to add one entry in the term set same as in the AD errors with " term already existent" . Any solution for how to get around special characters not to concatenate in the search site collection?

Thank you

2013 Workflows are initiating as Anonymous

For some untraceable reason all workflows on a list are starting with the initiator set to anonymous and then getting stuck at "Not Started".

The services are all running and the anonymous access has not been enabled on the web application or site.

Any idea on how to stop workflows from running as anonymous and to use the user account to instantiate?

Sharepoint and OWAC server certificate

$

Good day!

We use Office Web Apps Components server 2013SP1 and Lync 2013.

Currently we use certificate from internal CA on OWAC like owac.contoso.local with SAN owac.contoso.com.

OWAC is published for external Lync users with IIS ARR and we have a certificate on IIS ARR from public CA with a SAN owac.contoso.com.

Everything works fine.

Now we plan to implement SharePoint with OWAC integration. And we plan to use SharePoint from external network (Internet) and internal.

We require that external users should work from Internet with SharePoint and OWAC without any SSL issues.

The question is - should we reconfigure ssl certificate on OWAC server for this ? (or external users will work with SP and OWAC with OWAC's certificate from internal CA?)

May you help me with this question please ?

Thanks'.

duplicated WSS_Content database type "MetadataWebService" has error from Database status: database is too old upgrade required

$

After cu upgrade and configuration wizard run, the Database status shows:

Database          Type                                       Status

WSS_Content   MetadataWebServiceDatabase   Database is too old and upgrade is required

ManagedMetaData   MetadataWebServiceDatabase   No action required

it seems that there is already a database for MetadataWebServiceDatabase type and that is fine.   The WSS_Content is used for "Content database" type already, but it also used for MetadataWebServiceDatabase type, that really should not be there (it could be that I setup Managed Metadata service initially using WSS_Content database but then re-set that to use dedicated db.

Is there a way to get rig of that MetadataWebServiceDatabase type associated with WSS_Content?

Office web apps 2013 communication and certificates

Hi All,

We have OWA 2013 with SharePoint 2013. A Trusted certificate is deployed at Load Balancer for OWA (SP_OWA_CERT) and DNS has been setup as owa.company.com. The Office Web Apps URL ishttps://owa.company.com for LB side.

Q: Does Office Web Apps 2013 server (SPOWA13) also requires same certificate (SP_OWA_CERT) trusted certificate for users that communicate with load balancer? Users requests a document and LB has OWA Certificate. The SharePoint WFE has document and communicates with OWA server using WOPI protocol. The document then is returned via LB to user.

Is above diagram fine?

User >> LB Certificate (SP_OWA_CERT) >> WFE server (Self Sign Certificate) >> OWA Cert (SP_OWA_CERT)

Any help would be greatly appreciated?
