Sharepoint 2013 Foundation Breadcrumbs

Hi! I would like to add breadcrumbs to my Sharepoint 2013 foundation so i tried to follow a tutorial

but i did not find the function MasterPage under Look and Feel. I have checked how to enable the MasterPage under Look and Feel and found a tutorial which i failed to do as another function was not visible. Could it be that breadcrumbs can not be created in Sharepoint 2013 FOUNDATION?

Thanks

I recently updated security patch for SharePoint KB3054858 (MS15-081: Security update for Word Automation Services on SharePoint Server 2013: August 11, 2015)

Now I cannot follow or unfollow documents or site using the default Follow button.

Every user gets an error message "Something went wrong"
Sorry, we couldn't follow the document.

Technical Details
Unexpected response from server. The status code of response is '400'. The status text of response is 'Bad Request'.

I try the usual things and ensured that the AppPool Account has all required permissions on the database. But as this function worked right before installation of the Security patch I digged deeper into the ULS logs and found the following message:

MonitoredScope Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfile.get_FollowedContent is created in new Thread 83 where the parent Request (POST:https://sp-dev.devserver.com:443/_vti_bin/client.svc/ProcessQuery) is on 37

In dead the KB mentions that there are updated version of UserProfile.dll and js in this package. But what the hack...

Search, UPS, MySites ... are working fine.
Current SP version is 15.0.4737.1000 (July 2015)

I have the same issues on 4 different farm I manage (dev, test, prod).

Is there any help or has anyone else seen this problem (and hopefully has a solution for me?)

Thanks a lot.

Hi Fellows,

One of my customer has requirement to integrate the on-premises SharePoint 2013 with Office 365. Is it possible? Has anyone done this before. any article or reference or link would be of great help.

They have on-premises Exchange 2007 SP3. Would an Hybrid integration be required between Office 365 and Exchange 2007?

Using PowerShell with CSOM to grant permissions to AD security groups

$

Hi

I have been testing out the provisioning of team sites using Powershell CSOM calls working against an on premise SharePoint 2013 farm.  One of the great advantages I have found is  I don't need to RDP to any of the servers on the farm and indeed get "kicked off" if one the other consultants hijacks my admin session!

Now,  I want script the following using CSOM or REST

  • breaking permission inheritance
  • remove any SharePoint groups
  • Granting one or more AD groups the desired "Contribute" or "Design" permissions.

I just wondered if this is possible without needing to be logged on to a farm server and running server side PS script.

SharePoint Designer 2013 Workflow, HTTP 500 The remote server returned an error

Hi All,

A user reported an issue where a SharePoint Designer 2013 has been deployed to SharePoint server.    And when custom workflow’s Internal status is SUSPENDED and have the follows status:

Requestorid: <<GUID>> Details: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the workflow instance. Exception Details: System.ApplicationException: HTTP 500 The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. We looked in Fiddler logs and we received a couple of HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized within Response Headers.

We created a simple Site Workflow reproduce the issue and used a SPD 2013. While publishing the workflow we got an error:Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.System.ServiceModel.ProtocolException: The content type text/html; charset=utf-8 of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8). If using a custom encoder, be sure that the IsContentTypeSupported method is implemented properly. The first 1024 bytes of the response were: '<!DOCTYPE html>

<html>

  <head>

<title>Runtime Error</title> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" /> <style>

  1.       We found that there is a MS article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2557533?wa=wsignin1.0 that adjust the values as follows  [System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SharePoint") $new_limit = 5000; $webapp = [Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebApplication]::Lookup(http://WebAppURL) $webapp.UserDefinedWorkflowMaximumComplexity = $new_limit $webapp.Update()
  2.       http://summit7systems.com/workflow-2013-starts-and-then-immediately-cancels/

What we have noticed that it looks a permission for a that web application that’s why its Workflow are not working.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

duplicated WSS_Content database type "MetadataWebService" has error from Database status: database is too old upgrade required

After cu upgrade and configuration wizard run, the Database status shows:

Database          Type                                       Status

WSS_Content   MetadataWebServiceDatabase   Database is too old and upgrade is required

ManagedMetaData   MetadataWebServiceDatabase   No action required

it seems that there is already a database for MetadataWebServiceDatabase type and that is fine.   The WSS_Content is used for "Content database" type already, but it also used for MetadataWebServiceDatabase type, that really should not be there (it could be that I setup Managed Metadata service initially using WSS_Content database but then re-set that to use dedicated db.

Is there a way to get rig of that MetadataWebServiceDatabase type associated with WSS_Content?

Implement SSO with external applications and SharePoint

Hi All

Is it feasible to implement an SSO with SharePoint and other external applications such as Service Now( not synced to AD and having its own custom Database for authentication) and Cornerstone (currently authenticated with AD credentials and using F5 device for SSO ).

Would ADFS be feasible in such an environment, given the multiple external systems and their custom authentication?

Thanks

Sharepoint and OWAC server certificate

$

Good day!

We use Office Web Apps Components server 2013SP1 and Lync 2013.

Currently we use certificate from internal CA on OWAC like owac.contoso.local with SAN owac.contoso.com.

OWAC is published for external Lync users with IIS ARR and we have a certificate on IIS ARR from public CA with a SAN owac.contoso.com.

Everything works fine.

Now we plan to implement SharePoint with OWAC integration. And we plan to use SharePoint from external network (Internet) and internal.

We require that external users should work from Internet with SharePoint and OWAC without any SSL issues.

The question is - should we reconfigure ssl certificate on OWAC server for this ? (or external users will work with SP and OWAC with OWAC's certificate from internal CA?)

May you help me with this question please ?

Thanks'.

Force NTLM authentication in mixed mode

I have a web app with 2 zones

  • Intranet : FBA and NTLM authentication - intranet.mycomp.com
  • Extranet : FBA only - extranet.mycomp.com

I want to force NTLM authentication when users log to Intranet web app and prevent them choosing the FBA one.

I tried to set the Custom Sign In page to "_windows/default.aspx?Source=%2F&ReturnUrl=%2f_layouts%2fAuthenticate.aspx%3fSource%3d%252F&Source=%2F" but I get an error.

What I want to do is to simply force NTLM authentication when users browse intranet.mycomp.com as thez will always access it with their AD account.

Do I need to create a custom page and force the redirection to "_windows/default.aspx?Source=%2F&ReturnUrl=%2f_layouts%2fAuthenticate.aspx%3fSource%3d%252F&Source=%2F" once it is loaded ?

Should IIS be running on ALL SharePoint servers and listening on port 80 for HTTP Ping?

$

I have some oddball issues in my event log and some of them appear to be related to inter-communication (intra?) between members of the farm. I worked on another farm several months ago and had to enable port 80 on all machines and use PowerShell to enable HTTP ping. I believe this was in support of Request Management. So...on the farm I am helping to rehab now I see that the previous admin disabled port 80 on the App Servers. This means that HTTP Ping works from App to WFE but not from WFE back to App.

User Profile Synchronization stops when I try to start it up

I'm on SharePoint 2013 and I am having problems starting User Profile Synchronization service. User Profile Synchronization just stops right away. I try to start it as the farm service account, and the service account is local admin. But still nothing. Why is this?

I also can't open miisclient.exe to debug. It says: "Unable to connect to the synchronization service. Some possible reasons are: 1) The service is not started. 2)Your account is not a member of required security group."

I am trying to start the service so I can sync to AD. Get profile pictures etc.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Is Request Management necessary if there is only one Web Front End (WFE)?

$

My understanding is that Request Management redirects requests to different services across the farm and so it seems that it is actually required for the farm to even function. But I know that's not true because I've see farms run with request management turned off. So, I am confused as to whether this is an optional component and, if so, does anyone think my 1 WFE, 1 APP farm will actually run better with RM off. I am pushing 10,000 scanned documents per day to my single WFE so I am wondering if maybe RM is doing more harm than good for now.

MissingWebPart Error in Health Analyzer (Even Though WebParts are Installed and Working on the Farm)

$

Dear All

I have recently upgraded our content databases from SharePoint 2010 to 2013. I am now getting a Health Analyzer warning to report that some of my webparts are missing, for example:

[MissingWebPart] WebPart class [5ae1ee45-be7e-6fbd-3c90-03ed3ed855ef] (class [SLG.Web.WebParts.StudentDetailBasic] from assembly [SLGWeb, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=21f532fe36bf9cd6]) is referenced [3] times in the database [WSS_content], but is not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature/solution which contains this web part. One or more web parts are referenced in the database [WSS_content], but are not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature or solution which contains these web parts.

However, the webparts are definitely installed into the farm and are working exactly as I would expect! I have used the following article to help me track down where the webparts are being used on pages and they all work perfectly.

http://get-spscripts.com/2011/08/diagnose-missingwebpart-and.html

I'm sure I can just ignore these errors as everything is working fine but I don't want to. I would like to resolve all of these errors for peace-of-mind.

Please can you help me understand what's going wrong?

Many thanks

Daniel

Office Web Apps's Powerpoint App doesn't work behind reverse proxy. Works internally. All other Web Apps work fine both internally and behind reverse proxy.

I have a Sharepoint 2013 farm with Office Web Apps binded. Everything works fine internally but recently I published the Sharepoint Server and the Web Apps Server, so the farm is accessible from outside. The Web Apps Server is behind NAT (Port 443) and behind reverse proxy. Word, Excel and OneNote work without a hitch in this configuration but Powerpoint gives an error:

"Either you've lost network connectivity or our server is too busy to handle your request. Please check your network connection and try again later."

It seems to be able to load the application itself since if I click "New Document" and choose "Powerpoint Presentation", while it still gives me the same error, it loads the application with all menus grayed out. It also creates a Powerpoint Document and when I download it it's a perfectly fine blank Powerpoint document.

The reverse proxy doesn't even rename the URL, and it obviously works fine since all other applications work fine.

I find this problem rather interesting and I'm sure that someone with more knowledge on Office Web Apps will have some suggestions.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The Central Administration Page and Site Collection is setup and working, but I am unable to active site features.

Sharepoint is setup on a separate server from TFS. I installed Sharepoint extensions on the remote server. I granted permissions.

On the TFS server, I pointed everything to the remote server, but I still have this error.

Without this feature, project dashboards will not function correctly. Verify that the solution has been deployed to the SharePoint farm, and that the feature has been activated in SharePoint Central Administration. The server returned the following error: TF250035: A feature for SharePoint Products could not be found with the following ID: 60e22958-ba2a-47be-b995-820c756324b6. I only have one sharepoint server and one TFS server.

Not sure what I am missing.
