Password for SPUserCodeV4 service not updated when Managed Account password updated

I have a sharepoint 2013 farm. There is a managed account called "SVC". In the "Manage Service Accounts" menu I have the Windows Service - Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Serbvice" user set to "SVC".

"SVC" is a managed account with password change scheduled every month. I am getting the following error in the logs.

The SharePoint Health Analyzer detected an error.  One or more services have started or stopped unexpectedly. The following services are managed by SharePoint, but their running state does not match what SharePoint expects: SPUserCodeV4.  This can happen if a service crashes or if an administrator starts or stops a service using a non-SharePoint interface.  If SharePoint-managed services do not match their expected running state, SharePoint will be unable to correctly distribute work to the service.SharePoint was unable to automatically repair this error.

To stop or start a service managed by SharePoint, use the SharePoint service management interface in the SharePoint Central Administration Site.  If a service has crashed, restart the service manually on the affected servers by running "net start [service name]" from a command prompt. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142683".

When I try to start the service I get "The service did not start due to logon failure". This password should have been updated by SharePoint but it seems that the service does not have the correct password. The 'SharePoint Search Host Controller" service also uses the "SVC" account and has no problem restarting.

Why is the password out of date on the SPUserCodeV4 service but not on the search host controller service?

Cannot log on to newly created site

I just setup a new install of SharePoint 2013 on a two tier operation. SP on one server and SQL on the other.

SP 2013 has all updates to include SQL 2014 with all updates.

I created the central Admin site just fine.

I created a new web app and site collection no errors.

When I click on the link to go to the site for the first time I get a log on box. I put the farm account in there which is also the site collection administrator. I can not get to the home page.

Anonymous is selected along with port 80 a standard site.

I did access the site by going through the back end by going here but still had trouble granting access to others I received this error:  Sorry, we're having trouble reaching the server.

The back end URL: http://domain.site.com/_layouts/15/settings.aspx

Fixing corrupted user accounts in an existing Web Application so they can access its site collections back again ?

Hello Forum,

* Background of the issue:

- We have an environment (A single server deployment) that has a Web Application (NTLM default window authentication) which consists of two site collections: Root site collection & Another site collection.

- A handful of users whom they are using this SharePoint environment used to belong to an old domain.

- Everything was working correctly without any issues at all.

* The Problem:

- These handful of users whom they are using this SharePoint environment were migrated to a new domain e.g. (OldDoman\User1) => (NewDomain\NewUser).

=> The moment that the user accounts were migrated, they are NO longer able to access any of the two site collections: Root site collection & Another site collection, and they keep getting a "Page cannot be found" error. While all the other users whom their accounts were never migrated are still able open and view the sites normally.

*Investigations:

- Of course I have ensured that all these users accounts have sufficient permissions. In fact I put them all as Full Control Site Collection admins, Farm Admins, and Full Control on the User Policy => NOTHIN helped !

- Of course, I tried both: Move-SPUser and stsadm -o migrateuser => NOTHING helped.

- I used some scripts like:

Get-SPSite URL | Get-SPWeb | Remove-SPUser "UserName"
Get-SPWeb 'URL' | New-SPUser -UserAlias 'UserName'
Set-SPUser -Identity 'UserName' -Web URL -AddPermissionLevel "Full Control"

NOTHING helped at all !

Even though the user accounts can be found when you search for them in SharePoint People Picker and You can grant them any permissions you want in SharePoint,These users will ALWAYS keep getting a "Page cannot be found" error when they open the site.

- Most recently, On the exact same environment, I created a separate Web Application with some site collections into it, and I granted some permissions to these users, and they were ABLE to open and view the site normally without any issues at all !!!!! Based on that, I somewhat feel that migrating the user accounts have kinda corrupted the users SIDs or whatever in the first Web Application - But how can I fix this ?

How can I fix these corrupted user accounts in the existing Web Application so they can access its site collections normally ?

Please, Do share with me your thoughts and suggestions ?

The server farm account should not be used for other services

Is it possible to get rid of this error message? If OSearch15(Windows Service) and SPSearchHostController(Windows Service) MUST be run with the sp_farm account, I presume we shall never get rid of this error message.

Cannot install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on server 2012 R2. IIS configuration error

Hey Guys,

I'm experiencing a problem which seems to be common considering the number of posts I've found about it, but none of the provided solutions worked for me.

I'm simply trying to install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on a Windows Server Standard 2012 R2.

I've downloaded from the MS Volume Licensing website the "SharePoint Server 2013 with SP1" ISO file :  SW_DVD5_SharePoint_Server_2013w_SP1_64Bit_English_MLF_X19-36118. Sothis is the slipstreamed version which is supposed to bring compatibility with 2012 R2.

As I do not have direct access to the Internet I need to perform an offline installation. I also downloaded all prerequisities. When I run prerequisiteinstaller.exe with the necessary arguments, I get the following :

(Full log file is below)

I've tried the following :

- Restarted the server multiple times
- Manually removing/adding IIS role + restart
- Running the prerequisiteinstaller.exe from the DVD or from an extracted version
- Manually installing the prerequisities
- Installed .Net 3.5 as recommended here (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0b597d35-b02d-4236-894d-38efc0c7c6f6/sharepoint-2013-with-sp1-install-on-windows-server-2012-r2?forum=sharepointgeneral)

None of the worked. So I'm stuck and I must completed the installation of this before the end of the week for an important project !

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

this is the complete log file :

Unable to view page after setting up new site collection

I have created a new web application and then created a new "/" site collection. When I try to access the site (even as the site collection admin) I get an error " The Website cannot display the page ".

1. I yet don't have a URL, so my host header is blank. The URL I use is the <machine name>:<port number>.

2. I am getting this error even if I browse this site from the server, including using "local host" in the URL.

3. The site and its services are running (in IIS). I have tried restarting both, but no luck.

4. The ULS logs show the following error:

An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: There was no endpoint listening at http://localhost:32843/SecurityTokenServiceApplication/securitytoken.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details..

Any clues/suggestions will be very helpful.

Multiple SSL Certs in SPS

Hello,

i'd like to use two different SSL certificates in SharePoint but having troubles in the configuration.

Setup:

  • 2 NICS with IPs 192.168.1.8 and 192.168.1.9
  • Two different certs:
    - one for Extranet-Access (extranet.contoso.com) and
    - a SAN Cert for for Intranet access (intranet.contoso.local, mysite.contoso.local)
  • The extranet site/intranet sites are different web applications (IIS sites)

Configuration:
For each web application i edit the bindings of a web application, assign one NIC/IP, and assign the correct cert

  • extranet.contoso.com gets 192.168.1.8 and the cert for SSL cert with the extranet FQDN
  • intranet.contoso.local gets 192.168.1.9 and the SAN cert for the intranet FQDN

Of course i setup DNS accordingly to point to the correct ips.

Result and Problem:
Opening a site (eg extranet.contoso.com) results in a blank page.

Expected:
The site should open correctly with the correct cert.

Remarks:

  1. If i use "All unassigned IPs" in the bindings of one web application i can open this one site correctly. The other site then fails because of the incorrect SSL-Cert (you can only bind one Cert to one NIC).
  2. If i assign the same configuration on two simple test websites (on the same server) it works correctly.

Initially i thought this is some sort of (internal) routing issue but after the exactly same setup on the same server works for normal websites this may have to do with something else, maybe on the sharepoint side.

Does anybody has any clue whats going wrong here?

Regards,

Mike

I have also searched TechNet for a solution and found that there is a KB to install (2771431), but when I try to install it I get the following error: "The update is not applicable to your computer". I have also tried the second step if the installation doesn't work and it failed again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

SharePoint 2010 Individual Log File Size Issue

I'm reading all of these threads about "log file size" and none of them are actually about the size of the log files. They are about the space taken by the aggregate log files. I can't find anything to address the sizes of the individual .log files. I have 2 WFE's. The log files on WFE1 are around 3mb. The log files on WFE are between 150-250mb. I don't know why this is. It's causing ULS not to work and it's difficult searching through a file that large. Any ideas as to why this particular WFE has ~200mb log files? I would really appreciate any insight.

Hi,

I configured SharePoint 2013 to use the following urls:
https://portal.company.com and https://my.company.com (for MySites).

I can use the OneDrive for business iPhone/iPad app to connect to my OneDrive on premise by using the url:https://my.company.com/personal/myloginname

now i have extended the website for mysites so i can access mysites via: https://onedrive.company.com Now I cannot connect to https://onedrive.company.com/personal/myloginname via the OneDrive for Business app. However the site is browsable via a webbrowser.

Any Thoughts? (And no: I do not want to migrate my OneDrives to Office 365 :) )

Work Management Service in Multifarm architecture

Dear all,

The environment in which I am working on consists of SharePoint 2013 multi farm architecture. Farm A is a central service farm that consists of Search, User Profile  etc. and MySite. Farm B is where all the web applications have been provisioned. Search, UPS services are being shared from Farm A.

The requirement from the customer is to have a work management service that could aggregate and show the Tasks from Farm A and Farm B on mySite. To accomplish this, I have successfully provisioned the Work Management service on Farm A (Centeral Service Farm) and now it shows me list of all tasks created in any site collection on Farm A but no tasks from Farm B are being shown on MySite.

By following the Microsoft MultiFarm architecture figure, I have also provisioned the Work Management Service at Farm B but still no success.

It would be great if anyone could help me in this regard.

Thanks in advance

The following is the multifarm architecture from Microsoft

an error has occurred with the data fetch

I have a user who gets this popup error in Internet Explorer 11 when clicking on a Library tab or when he clicks on the cog icon to get to site settings:

"An error has occurred with the data fetch.   Please refresh the page and retry."

I tried the online suggestions of adding the sharepoint site to his trusted sites and clearing the cache.  That didn't seem to help.   I figured it may be a browser issue since only one person is reporting the problem.  However, I did find this SharePoint Foundation support note that addresses the specific error message:   https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2899546

Just wondering if anyone else came across it and what was done to resolve it.

thanks

Unable to create Folders in Document Library with IE - SharePoint 2013

We are facing a problem using IE 10 browsers: we cannot create any folder in any document library (even in brand new team sites, using no customization for any master pages or any additional scripts):

When I go to a document library(any type of library), click on "New Folder" in ribbon, enter the name of folder and click Save button in the pop up frame, nothing happens i.e. the form posts back, the pop up frame refreshes and the folder name input field becomes blank again

If we use Firefox or Chrome with the same user we cannot reproduce this behavior, under IE we cannot find any error logged in the javascript console (F12), could you please help us?

I can add that using File Explorer to create the new directories is a good workaround but not all users are smart enough and aware about the bug...

Problem when creating sub sites based on site templates, as some settings will not be transferred

$

I have created a sub site inside my team site collection on sharepoint server 2013, then I saved the sub site as template. after that I created a new sub site based on the site template, but I have noted that certain setting will not be transferred exactly from the template to the new subsite, these includes:-
  1. inside the original site which I saved as a template, I have an issue tracking list, which have 5 fields; 4 of these fields are site columns while one of the fields is list column of type lookup. Now the problem is that when i created a new sub site based on the template the list column will be last in the order inside the content type, while in the template it is defined as second in the order. so seems creating a sub site based on the template will place any list column as least in the order regardless of the original order.

  2. Inside the original site which I saved as template, I have checked the option to "Open in new window" check box for some sub site navigation links. but when I created a new subsite based on the template , these options will be un-checked.

so can anyone advice how I should manage these problems, and is there a way to modify the above two setting (column order + "open in new window") when creating a new sub site. I know this can be done manually but I need to automate this , so end users can create sub sites based on the template without having to worry about modifying these settings..

Thanks

i read about similat issue and they mentioned that the node.init inside C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\15.0\Data\Office Server\Applications\Search\Nodes\5EDB90\AdminComponent1\Configuration\Local might be corrupted, but when i check this file i found it have the following data:-

; This file contains node properties set by the host controller.
; Manually modifying this file may cause problems for the host controller
; in contacting the node for monitoring. All such modifications would be

We have a 4 server SP2013 farm:

WFE

SQL

APP

Workflow

Applied certificate on WFE to encrypt traffic with Workflow server. Configured send to connection and moved traffic from Port 80 to 443. Now Teamsite gives http 500 error. Turned on detailed IIS logging but cannot discern miconfig. Tried to delete but it won't allow us to remove app and we can't create new sites (attachment #1)

Central Admin is up (attachment 2).

Help!?

Edit page stuck in loading with Excel Services Web Part

We have recently migrated to SharePoint 2013, but we are running in "2010 mode". We just noticed that we can't seem to edit a page once an Excel Services Web Part has been saved to the page. When a user clicks on the Edit Page button the loading notice in the upper right of the page appears and it just sits there spinning. I have tested this on any page that has the Excel Services Web part and it happens there too. I have gone back to our QA environment and I can reproduce the problem. Any ideas?

recover a deleted user profile

Hi there

We've had a user profile mistakenly deleted from the UPSA service app in Central admin - now we can not find the user in the profile database. What is the best way to recover the user profile? If we just create a new profile in UPSA with the same name will it create a new My Site or reconnect with the old one which presumably has not been deleted yet (14 days etc)?

Thanks

J
