Setting up an Audience using AD Groups

$

Hello,

I am trying to configure an Audience using AD Groups and then display a Web part if you are in the AD Group but the webpart is not being displayed!! What i have setup so far is:

  1. Given the relevant account the correct permission in AD
  2. Setup a Connection to the relevent OU in AD (this OU only contains Groups (one level deep) and users are added to those groups) - I have tried both Profile Synch and Active Directory Import (AD Import is prefered)
  3. Creted a new Audience (with and without an Owner)
  4. Added a rule (Member of and selected the AD Group)
  5. Compiled the Audience and run full and incremental profile syncs

I am able to select the audience in the web part but it is not displayed for any users (if they are in the group or not), if i remove the Audience the web part is visible to all users.

When i view the Audience it does not contain any members, if there are two users in the AD group, should this display 2:

The account used to sync with AD only has the replicate permission, we only want to read from AD not have a two way sync (the reason i was trying the Active Directory Import first).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Duane

Possible to set StatusBar messages via PowerShell?

I'm trying to find a way of setting StatusBar messages via PowerShell but haven't found any posting showing how.  There are plenty of postings showing how to do this via JavaScript and using the SP.UI object, but I was hoping there would be a PowerShell method to make using the StatusBar more efficient and timely.  I would be grateful if anyone might show how - this would be a great tip for administrators in general as a way of providing quick messages to their users.

Certificate Authentication

As I mentioned, I can no longer get certificate authentication to work in SharePoint.

It was mentioned that ADFS 2.0 can be used to set up certificate authentication to work with SharePoint. Does anyone know any books or tutorials that can show how to do the following:

Set up ADFS 2.0

Implement Certificate Authentication using Windows AD PKI User Certificates

Integrate it with SharePoint 2013.

Thanks A million

Hello,

I just recently setup a SharePoint 2013 farm using AutoSPInstaller. everything installed fine with no errors, but it seems as though MySites are not working. I have read through several blogs and checked everything.

Any other ideas?

I have over 4000 xdw files on my SharePoint server.

I can open and view them with DocuWorks on my PC but the 200-300 other users can't open or view them without loading DocuWorks on there PC.

Is there any way to run the viewer as an add-in on the SharePoint server or from a VB script.

Greetings All,

I am having issues creating a new UPS Synchronization Connection.  I add the connection, connect to AD without issues, populate the AD container without issue, select the OU's I want to sync and click OK.  After the process runs for a couple minutes, I receive the following message:

I run a merge log files including the specified correlation ID (above) and have the following:

How to construct multiple records centers structure? As site collection for each RC or sub-sites under main site collection?

$

We are in the planning process of creating Records Centers as our record management approach. We plan to create multiple Records Centers to manage records for a group of sites (might contain multiple site collections).

I am not sure if we need to create the Records Center as site collection for each one we need, or, should we create the Records Centers as sub-sites under single site collection? What's the pros and cons for each approach? Thank you very much for your help.

Anybody realize the 64-bit download for the Online Management Shell from the Download Center's English page is the Spanish version? Should I just install the 32-bit version or wait to find the correct 64 bit file?

Sharepoint portal external access through WAP

Hello,

I am trying to provide external access to sharepoint site using WAP. Followed the article to every step. But I am getting "webpage not available" error from outside.

http://www.sharepoint4developers.net/en-nz/post/wap-adfs-sp2013-kerberos.aspx

I am working with windows 2012R2 and Sharepoint 2013

1. I can access the site internally using http (not https). Kerberos is enabled and I verified the kerberos ticket is generated when I access the site.

2. From outside I can ping the site.

For testing I made changes on DNS so if I use https://portal.domain.com from inside network it redirects to WAP server.

It seems that it is hitting WAP and getting redirected to ADFS and I do see the ADFS login page but there is no login and password fields. Instead I see the error below (on the browser).

Verify that the target relying party trust object exists, is published through the web application proxy, and has identifiers which match the sign-in request parameters.

Question:

1. I am not sure why I cant get to WAP from outside

2. Can I use wildcard certificates  on all servers. I used the same certificates everywhere.

Help please.

App Management Service

$

Hello folk

I have a SharePoint Farm on-premises, with the app management service configured. There are two Web applications, A and B.  Each Web Application has its own app catalog. The app catalogs are configured to prevent purchases but to allow app requests.

Under this scenario, if a user requests an app on Site Collection A, on Web Application A, then the Admin user for the Catalog has to approve the app. If the Admin approves the request, then the app becomes available in the entire site collection A from Web Application A, but also in all Site collection B in Web Application B. Is this correct?

My understanding is that if each Web application has its own catalog and apps, then apps approved in Web Application A should not be available in Site Collection B on Web Application B, Only in Web Application A.

Ref: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161237.aspx

  • In which environments do you want apps for SharePoint to be available? For example, intranet, extranet, or Internet environments?

You should decide which environments are appropriate for using apps for SharePoint and configure the settings for apps for SharePoint only in those farms or for those web applications.

I want to setup Workflow manager in our new SharePoint 2013 farm and have a few questions that I can't seem to find anything on.

1. Is it better set it up as part of the farm or on a separate server?

2. If you set it up on a separate server can more then one farm use it?

3. If you set it up on separate server, what are the hardware requirements?

4. My farm is runs on Server 2012 R2, will that be ok?

5. Can you use SQL 2012 R2.

InfoPath form check box problem

Hi,

In my infopath form i have two check boxes i.e YES and NO. I applied the validation rule that one of them should be checked at a time. For that set the values for checked and unchecked as in screen shot:

When i edit or view the item, i lost the value of check box selected (both check boxes become unchecked).

I noticed that problem is solved when i set the values as FALSE and TRUE instead of 0 and 1 like in below screen shot:

But is this case my validation rule doesn't work. Is there any work around?
