Sharepoint 2013 Workflow Manager Farm Configuration error, WARNING: Endpoint https://servername:12290 is not responding

After successfully installing and configuring Workflow Manager Farm with https, when I run the "get-WFFarmStatus" command, WorkflowServiceBackend is running, but WorkflowServiceFrontend service status is showing "Stopped" with warning message"

"WARNING: Endpoint https://servername:12290 is not responding: the underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for SSL/TLS secure channel."

We have deployed SharePoint Workflow Manager Farm on  SharePoint Web Server. Our SharePoint 2013 deployment consists of one Database Server, one SharePoint Application Server and One SharePoint Web server with NLB configured.

Any Help?

Note: We first configured Workflow Manager with auto-generated certificates from wizard and then replaced auto-generated certificates with Domain CA Issued Certificates by following Harber Post(http://www.harbar.net/articles/wfm3.aspx)

ULS Logs stopped getting written to

My ULS Logs are empty since the 26th of March. I went through the configuration again to see that they are set up correctly but it is still failing. I've not heard of this happening before. Any way to check this out and get it running again?

How can I add all of the Services Applications to Sharepoint 2013 Server?

Hello Community

    On WS2012 there is SharePoint 2013 Server installed.

    When I click Manage Service Applications I see:

    1-Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application
    2-Business Data Connectivity Service
    3-PerformancePoint Service
    4-Secure Store Service
    5-Security Token Service Application

    Also as you can see I only listed 5 Service Applications.  I need Search Service,
Metadata Service, User Profile Synchronization Service, Word Automation Service, etc.

    On the Central Administration page there is no Health and Usage line that
I can click to see if there are any problems with the configuration.  For example,
if an farm account was being used where a least privilege account should be used
I wouldn't be able I wouldn't know because there is no Health and Usage line on the
Central Administration page.

    How can I add those Service Applications to the Sharepoint 2013 Server farm?

Hi all,

we are in a serious trouble with excel services and BI with SharePoint 2013.

We have a three tier Farm, 1 WFE, 1 App, 1 SQL with a fourth dedicated BI SQL with analysis (not in SharePoint mode). A Office Web Application server complete the infrastructure.

We are trying to make the powerpivot for SharePoint working. At the moment we have installed all the components using most of the various guide in the internet. We also created all the Kerberos SPN & delegation for all the components involved.
The same configuration was done in a test farm, identical to the produciont one, and it's working.

In production we are struck with the PowerPivot service application with the workbook activity chart with red X in it, and a error like "The data connection uses Windows Authentication and user credentials could not be delegated. The following connections failed to refresh" if we try to refresh the data in the server health part above.

In the logs we have:

"We cannot locate a server to load the workbook Data Model" and, most specific:

ExcelService.PostProcessRequest: web method: EnsureWorkbookModel, got exception Id=NoStreamingServers; Microsoft.Office.Excel.Server.CalculationServer.SessionException: We cannot locate a server to load the workbook Data Model.    

Digging more, we found this error:

There are no servers available or actively being initialized

According to :

I have communication issues between the servers, But I know that this kind of message could be generic.

I have tryed to telnet the Bi SQL server, opening the SQL MNGT from the SPS App server, I have no firewall active on the servers and they are virtuals on the same infrastructure. So I can't find out the problem. I suspect that is not a real network issue.

Please, anyone can suggest me how to understand where is the problem ? We are becoming crazy with this problem.

[SP2013 Foundation] Taking ownership of never checked in files

Hi guys,

Here is my problem.

We are working with SharePoint 2013 Foundation.

The repro steps are:

- Alice push a new document in a folder.

- The document needs to be check in (for the first time).

- The file has never been checked, so i can see it through : Library settings > Manage checked out files (i'm not sure it's the correct title 'cause my SharePoint version is in french).

- I check the file.

- I click on "take ownership of selected file"

- and the error appears:

" Sorry... We have encountered an issue"

User Profile Service does not start - SP2013 and SQL Server 2014

Hi all,

we have a SharePoint 2013 Farm with a SQL Server 2014 installed including SP1 and June 2014 CU.

The User Profile Service keeps hanging in the "starting" mode.

The FIM accounts is a Farm account an a local admin:

 What have done so far:

- recreated the application

- checked the permissions on the SQL Server and set them to the necessary levels
-Read  http://almondlabs.com/blog/sharepoint-2013-upa-sync-service-not-starting-%E2%80%93-%E2%80%9Chostid-is-not-registered%E2%80%9D-error/
-Read  http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/65701/hostid-is-not-registered-when-starting-user-profile-synchronization-service
- Took the Spencer Harbar Manual and recreated it

- Patched the Server.

Now we are out of ideas, why it does not work... Any ideas from you?

Unable to edit users in UPA SharePoint 2013.

Hi,

I have created UPA service application just now, I am able to see 30 users in the site. Am able to search for the users but am unable to edit the users from the search result. Am not getting popup to edit profile after right clicking. I have provided permissions to below accounts On UPA Databases. I have added the users under permissions option, administrators option in ribbon and provided full rights.

  • AppPool account user
  • farm admin
  • my admin account

Anyone have idea on what kind specific permissions I need to provide to get edit profile option.

Monthly Abandoned Queries

Hey SharePoint Fam,

I am trying to decide what are important monthly abandoned queries to focus on each month.  Would you say anything that has more than 10 queries and % with no clicks is 50% and above or what numbers do you focus on?

I have some terms that have been searched 50 times with 96% no clicks but just trying to figure out what should I focus on each month in this report to make search easier for our users

Where actually we control permissions for documents that are IRM enabled. I see in the attached screen ,when we open the IRM enabled document which talks different IRM permissions levels set. My questions are

  1. Where do we control these shown permissions in screen, is it in SharePoint or RMS Server? I notice these permissions is changing as I change SharePoint permissions to read, contribute and full. So these attached IRM permissions are depends on SharePoint permissions?
  2. Why we have rights policy template in RMS server ? how it is related to SharePoint IRM enabled library ? I understand SharePoint talks to IRM server based on the settings in central admin. If it is how SharePoint is associated with rights policy template.

I have not seen any blog which provides this details after my research. May be I could not find. Please help me.

Web Application Proxy and ADFS configuration

Hello All,

I am trying to configure the Web Application Proxy in Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. I am getting the below error

"ADFS proxy could not be configured". Unable to retrieve proxy configuration data from the federation Server.

What could be the error?

I have installed the update also as mentioned in the support link.

Launch All Web Applications in browser using PowerShell

Hi Admins,

I am working on a Script where I should be able to launch all the web applications in the browser to open in tabs.

I have worked out with the following script and was able to come upto an extent where I am able to launch the Internet Explorer.But ....only 1 web app opens up and throws an error message :

Exception calling "Navigate" with "1" argument(s): "The interface is unknown. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706B5)"

Below is my script

Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.sharepoint.powershell -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue

Content Search Query Builder - filtering for custom column value

I want to use a CSWP to display certain pages in a slideshow format on a site.  However, to filter them in a preferred manner, the pages library has a custom column "Spotlight" which is a Boolean type (e.g. yes/no).

In my "Build Your Query" configuration page, I have added a keyword filter "SpotlightOWSBOOL=Yes" as the criteria to display my results.  This is not working, despite the fact that I currently have pages flagged as "Spotlight" in this library. 

My question is - how can I achieve this result of displaying only pages with a custom column value "Spotlight" as "Yes"?

Adding a Sharepoint Document Library in Windows Explorer Fovorites

I want to add a sharepoint document library in my favorites in windows explorer...  Every time I copy the link, instead of opening the library in windows explorer, it open the browser and go directly to the site... Any help would be appreciated.

UI upgrade to SP2013

Hello,

Since we have few thousands of site collections, the UI upgrade to 2013 is taking a lot of time around 50 hours. Now we have multiple content databases attached to the web application.

Question is Can we run multiple instance of the powershell from diffrent servers in the farm targeting diffrent databases at the same time so UI upgrage can happen on multiple sites at the same time? Will that help us in getting things faster?

SharePoint online: Can users keep their own personal email addresses?

We are a non-profit agency, and I am trying to determine the best way to use Office 365 SharePoint to facilitate communication and collaboration with our board of directors and committees who are all volunteers. I am able to assign them E1 licenses. However, they want to use their own existing email addresses, not have to manage a new email address. Important functionality:

  1. Send email to groups pre-configured groups (e.g. all board members, finance committee members, etc.)
  2. Access documents
  3. See a calendar of meetings/events

Every option I've considered seems to come with some drawbacks. Adding them as external users doesn't give me the ability to use Groups or Site Mailboxes to manage communication. Giving them E1 licenses doesn't allow them to use their own personal email addresses.

Any advice on how best to configure this? Thanks!

Single From Address Email FBA

 Hi..

 We have installed and Configured FBA and Email Configuration (like SMTP Server and From Address in CA).

 So when we reset a user Password to Email, how to set a single Email From Address receipients and also if any user adds a group to a sub site, from address email should not be logged in email but a standard Email Id..

 Conclusion: For any Operations, irrespective of user login, there should be one From Address in sharepoint. Is it possibel
