help is appreciated!hi,
i have created a few sitecollections with specific content db in my web app.
now i would like delete these along with the content db.
anyone pls help how to achieve this?
i tried the below:
http://blog.claudiobrotto.com/2013/deleting-a-site-collection-that-cannot-be-deleted/$site = Get-SPSite http://siteurl $siteId = $site.Id $siteDatabase = $site.ContentDatabase $siteDatabase.ForceDeleteSite($siteId, $false, $false)
but it seems that, it deletes the site collec only not content db.
I have set up a SharePoint 2013 VM in Windows Azure and would like to know how to configure my SharePoint server installation to send e-mails using SMTPSendGrid since SMTPSendGrid requires authentication credentials and SharePoint does not support providing authenticated credentials for sending outgoing e-mail messages.
I read something about configuring the SMTP Send E-mail settings in IIS 7 and above but I am not sure if it is sufficient to configure those settings in order to get the e-mails to send out correctly.
Please advise.
Thanks.
SharePoint 2013 - fresh site, with Mysites, and the User Profile Service running. The UPS is ran under a separate account, and the farm account has securityAdmin rights and directory replication rights.
When I enter Manage User Properties, I get a complete list of properties but no way to edit them, the same happens when I go into User Profile Properties, there is no where to edit the users. Has anyone seen this before and if so what step have I missed in setting the UPS and MySites Up.
Both Administrator and Farm Admin have Administrator rights to the UPS Application, and it's the Profile User Service that's running at the minute not the Profile User Synchronization Service.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
David
But when i go to manage service application, Workflow service application name is missing.. but im able to see Workflow service application Proxy... is it fine? If you have any idea, can you please show some light.
Thanks
Hi Team,
I am not able to navigate to SharePoint 2013 User profile service application page. I get something went wrong with some coorelation id.
While looking into ULS log I get following error.
Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileApplicationNotAvailableException: This User Profile Application's connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or User Profile Service may not have been started. Please contact your administrator.
at Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.UserProfiles.AdminUI.ProfileAdminPage.get_CurrentApplicationProxy()
at Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.UserProfiles.AdminUI.ManageUserProfileServiceApplicationBase.OnPreRender(EventArgs e)
at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal()
at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)
I have checked following things.
1) App pools are started on all servers
2) User Profile service is already started on the server
3) I also made sure that Anonymous Authentication is set to IIS user in IIS.
4)I am using Farm Admin account to navigate and do all the task.
5)Also recreating the UPS App did not work out for us we are getting the same error.
6)All ports are opened because UPS was working for me for few days and then it broke down one fine day.
Thanks Ba$va

Hey SharePoint Fam,
I am trying to get SharePoint 2013 environment configured properly and wanted to see your thoughts on whom should be Site Collection Admin(SCA). Previous job we added 2 service accounts prodfarm as primary and prodadmin as secondary and passwords always stayed the same for each collection. Now that I am no longer with that company I still remember the passwords and could login to there environment. What are your thoughts on which accounts to give SCA rights to? I was thinking maybe the SharePoint Admin only needs this access but what if that SP Admin quits or leaves and the AD account is terminated, how would IT Dept get access to site collection?
Thanks for any ideas/thoughts
According to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219560(v=office.15).aspx , FeedCacheTTLHours & FeedCacheLastModifiedTimeTtlDeltaHours are 168 hours (7 days) by default. Our users need to keep 14 days of feeds at Mysite. Hence we are considering increase FeedCacheTTLhours to 14 days.
My question is, do I need to increase FeedCacheLastModifiedTimeTtlDeltaHours to 14 days as well?
So why the user cannot open the file although he is in "approve" group and this group found in the permission of library.

Hi all,
I'm having the following puzzle:
I want to give my customers the opportunity to select apps from the Microsoft SharePoint 2013 app store and install them on their own site collection. That works, everything is installed perfectly and they can add it from the Add An App functionality within SharePoint.
Now comes the puzzle-part: every time a customer opens the settings page of an App that comes from the store, it presents a login prompt. This because of the different URL then the one the customer is logged in on (for example:https://sharepoint.microsoft.com). The URLhttps://app-[someRandomGUID].microsoft.com is different, therefor the credential prompt. This also happens when someone is opening a web page with an app attached on it.
I'm reading a lot of solutions telling to add the wildcard domain to the Local Intranet, but that's a quick fix, not a solution. I also have a dedicated Web Application as a landing spot, and try to pass the request to the original web application (where the page with the app is located), but with no success.
Did someone ever fix this? I can't believe Microsoft ment it to work like this
Our users will goto the My Site Host web application to check their newsfeed every working day. On the MySite default page, it used to show past several day's newsfeed. However, when the farm was rebooted at weekend, only last day (Friday) newsfeeds are shown on their mysite default page on Monday. If they click their names, older newsfeed will be shown.
So the feeds are not lost. They are still resident in database or cache. But the default page just don't list them out by some reason. Users feel it is very inconsistent. May I know is it possible to change the behavior?
Hi
I have a single server farm with a native english SharePoint server 2013 SP1 installed (15 0 4569 1000). Now I want to install a swedish server language pack with sp1, but all that happens when I run setup is that the screen that tells me that I should "please wait while setup prepares the necessary files" appears and then immediately disappears.
Checking the log at %temp% let's me know about these errors:
Error: Catalyst intermediate PreReqCheck has failed Type: 66::PreReqCheckFailure.
Error: Catalyst intermediate PreReqCheck has failed Type: 66::PreReqCheckFailure.
Return code: 30066. Exception caught: PreReqCheckFailure.
There's nothing intresting in the ULS or the application logs.
Next I tried running the ROIScan.vbs script which shows me "Error - missing chained product!", 38 of them in total. Amongst them is 90150000-110D-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE which as I understand maps to SharePoint Server 2013.
First I checked HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall where I found this key, no issues there. But in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Registration it was missing. Comparing with a healthy farm I can see that it should be present. I added the key but to no avail. Next step could be to try and add all the string values in this key, but I feel it will be in vain.
I've read thistechnet article describing how to solve a similar problem, but it only helped me with 18 of the missing products, and not the SharePoint Server 2013 product GUID which I guess is quite important.
This installation is from the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 demo image if that helps.
Anyone had experience with this?
UPDATE: I see now that the aforementioned registry key i manually added is supposed to hold, amongst other values, the SP2013 product key which is not present in this image. I can't say for sure if the key is needed or not to install language packs. Anybody?
Hello.
I've been looking around for some time trying to find a solution for my problem however, I have not found anything yet.
Here is my case. I want to have a @hotmail or a @outlook account for my code when getting and updating lists elements.
using (ClientContext clientContext = new ClientContext("myurl"))
{
//Laver en SecureString
SecureString passWord = new SecureString();
//Laver et foreach løkke der lopper hverenkelte char igennem og appender det til den SecureString
foreach (char c in "mypassword".ToCharArray()) passWord.AppendChar(c);
//Sætter credentials til clientContext så man har retighedder til at læse fra sitet af
clientContext.Credentials = new SharePointOnlineCredentials("test@hotmail or @outlook.com", passWord);
//Laver Web samt siger at clientContexten skal loade webbet og lister på webbet
Web web = clientContext.Web;
clientContext.Load(web);
clientContext.Load(web.Lists);
clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
}
however I am getting the following error:
An unhandled exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.IdcrlException' occurred in Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.Runtime.dll
Additional information: The Login server cannot issue the requested compact encrypted ticket because a Data Encryption Key (DEK) has not been uploaded to the site.
I've seen somethings about global admin rights and stuff, but I haven't seen to be able to make those work either.
any help is appriciated
Regards
Hitch
Hi guys,
Is that practical to have a combination of host-named (HNSC) and path-based (PBSC) site collections in a single farm?
I'd like to have two web apps in a single farm. The internal web app will be PBSC with single zone and the external web app will be with Dedicated Zones using HNSC. Is that practical ?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

An overzealous site admin got a little carried away and corrupted their site collection by somehow deleting or renaming the column "PublishingPageLayout" based on the ULS logs.
My question is, how would one restore this column to an operational state? The ULS logs are posted below for reference:
As always, thank you for your time and consideration in helping me troubleshoot my issue.
