So far we've been able to get SSO working nicely across the portal using the above configuration. when users open office documents, they are not prompted for extra credentials which is what we wanted. (previously we had a direct LDAP connection which kept on asking people to sign in again when opening office docs)

But now Windows Explorer View and Mapping drives do not work anymore.

Some people suggest it might be incompatible with SAML, but then I have seen it work with Office  365 and ADFS, which is using SAML for another customer. So I won't accept the "SAML won't support WebDAV" blanket answer.

Anybody got any clue as to what I might need to change to get Folder Views back for my users?

I am trying to setup forms authentication, but having lots of problems. I have tried to do it manually editing the config files (machine.config included on one attempt) but keep finding it does not work.

My preffered method at the moment is to use FBA configuration Manager. However, after extending my web application that also has SSL, I get the following message when trying to connect with the little tool;

There was an error retrieving the membership provider - provider information not found

Any ideas? I have setup an aspnetdb and all that.

I'm getting the above error whenever I try to access 2 different sites (out of 200 sites) or if I browse 30 different pages (out of 2000). The rest is working as expected. I get the same error in the ULS log, which I cannot find any resources on. So hopefully someone here has an idea.

The system suffers from latency issues, however it is ALWAYS the same sites and pages that are failing with the Cannot Complete this action.

The farm is 2 FE and 1 Batch server and has, as a rememdy, been upgraded for July 2014 CU.

Any pointers to nail root cause is most welcome.

Hi All,

I have just encountered a very frustrating issue;

As random as it could possibly happen, this morning all of our installed SharePoint Store apps have broken.

They still display correctly through their web\app parts, but the moment the header is clicked, we receive the following error;

Entries in the ULS Logs say much the same;

Application error when access /ImportantMessages/Pages/Default.aspx, Error=Accessing referenced file https://app-25d238edb9176b.**.com/_catalogs/masterpage/**MasterPage.master from https://app-25d238edb9176b.**.com/ImportantMessages/Pages/Default.aspx?SPHostUrl=https://intranet.**.com.au&SPLanguage=en-AU&SPClientTag=14&SPProductNumber=15.0.4420.1017&SPAppWebUrl=https://app-25d238edb9176b.**.com/ImportantMessages is not allowed because the reference is outside of the App Web.

I have done the following in an attempt to correct the issue;

• Re-read through the steps on configuring the app domain
• Reinstalled the Apps
  
• Ran an IISReset

Any help would be much appreciated.

I am trying to install Sharepoint enterprise 2013 on windows 2012 r2. In very early stage i got issue when i ran prerequisite installer. 

As we all know in this case we need to install prerequisite manually. I downloaded all the prerequisite and installed them manually. I have enabled all web and application role. then followed below link and installed all the prerequisite

we migrated a SharePoint 2010 SiteCollection to SharePoint 2013 Hive 14 (in first step).
The site-Collection has a storage of about 200 GB on SharePoint 2010.
Most storage is used for document libraries.
After the migration to SP 2013 (2 weeks ago), the storage has deacrease to 160 GB.

Is this or normal behavior or do we have any trouble with the site-collection ?

So, in SP 2007 > SP 2010, there was preupgradecheck as well as a database test that could be performed before actually attaching a content database to the farm.

It appears that in SP 2010 > SP 2013 there is a test-spcontentdatabase that can be performed before attaching - and a test-spsite that can be executed after the mounting.

Is that correct? I don't see a way to execute test-spsite before the database is attached.

Just wanting to be certain that I understand how things work.

I am facing issue configuring weather /stock webparts  on SharePoint 2013. Our proxy require authentication and I have modified web.config for the same  (see below) but these webparts works till the time I am logged in to the webserver, as soon as I log off from the server , I get webpart error. What is required to make them work?

I have tried bamboo, virto, amrein weather parts (all with same issue). Is there any weather webpart where we can explicitly type user name and password to authenticate . Thanks in advance!

Recently I have Installed SharePoint SP1 (15.0.4571.1502)

I have Create a New Web application and SC with BI Center Template.

Activated the Report Server integration feature and deployed PowerPivot Web Application Solution. Now When I wanted to Add SSRS Content types to Data Connections Library, I cannot see them. They are missing in Site content Types. Link :New WebApplication

However I was able to add Report Data Source by copying the Create Report Data Source Link from the Old Site Address and Replaced with Current Site and was able to save it to the Data Connections library. Still cant see the content Types. Link:New Web Application Content

I have old BI center Web Site which has SSRS Content types. This was created before installing the SharePoint SP1, they are still visible and I can add or remove them. Link:Old Web Application

Not sure if the SharePoint 213 SP1 has a Bug or if I am doing something wrong

Somehow we managed to get invalid permissions in Document Libraries on our Sharepoint server.

Our Farm is a brand new 2-tier setup (1 server is database, 1 server is AD, IIS and Sharepoint itself).

We added users at the same time as we copied our data to sharepoint (through the Explorer).

We have a subsite for our "Production"-employees, each Employee will make products for a set of customers.

Each Customer has his own Document Library; this is where we put contracts, project-documents, designs, everything.

So, we have Document Libraries called something like "Customer A", "Customer B", "Customer C". "Employee 1" works for Customer B so he will get access to Document Library  "Customer B". He does not work for Customer A or C, so he does not get access to those. We have about 60 customers so we have about 60 Document Libraries.

After we configured this and everything was set up we got complaints that our Employees could see (in the App-Treeview) large sets of "Customer"-libraries that they shouldn't be able to access. If they would click on it, they get an error saying"Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you.". Also, other sites which should be invisible are indeed invisbile. I have a mix of valid and invalid sites. 

So to continue the example: Employee can see 2 Document Libraries, "Customer A" and "Customer B", where I would expect he would only see "Customer B". "Customer C" is correctly hidden. When I look at the settings in"Customer A" he has no access. But the customer is in the TreeView, nonetheless.

I went out to investigate. When I check permissions I can see the user indeed does not have any permissions. That is good.

I wrote some code (in C#, using Sharepoint.Client) and I found out that Document Libraries are working correctly (Customer C) only show "EmptyMask"-access for a user. And for sites that do NOT work correctly ("Customer A") I see the following access:

• EmptyMask
• Open
• BrowseUserInfo
• UseClientIntegration

The "Open" permission would explain why the item is visible. It looks like these are inherited from the Site-settings (am I right?)

Now I don't know how to correct this situation.

• I tried writing some code in C# that detects this invalid setup, but I can't find a way to only change these Permissions without creating new Security Roles and such. I don't want to create security roles.
• I have googled for solutions, but I cannot find anyone with the same problem.

Anyone can give me one or more pointers?

I recently disconnected my sharepoint server from my farm due to some problems. (i have 2 servers, one for sharepoint and a database server). When all problems were fixed, i tried to connect to the existing farm I have, and got the error that "the database name is not a valid configuration database". I then went and installed SP1 for sharepoint server 2013, then tried to connect again, but still no avail.

we're facing some problems with a user Migration on our SharePoint 2013 farm. At the Moment we're running a infrastructure in Domain A-new but the farm is also connected to a Domain B-old. All the users are working from Domain B-old.

Because of our Migration of all the users from the Domain B-old to the Domain A-new, we're having some Problems:

- All Newsfeed entries are linked still to the "old" useraccount
- All list entries (created, modified, egg...) are linked to the old user
- MySite / personal Profile isn't migrated
- Permission won't be linked to the new user correctly.

I'm working with the following script:

$user = Get-SPUser -web http:// Websitename  -Identity "i:0#.w|B-old\$oldusername" 
Move-SPUser -confirm:$false -Identity $user -NewAlias "i:0#.w|A-new\$newusername" -ignoreSID

The useraccounts in the Domain B-old are deactivated after the Migration. Also the UPS is synced with both Domains.
What's the best practice to do a user Migration from one Domain to another with all the SharePoint stuff?

I have a created a documnt library and made it available for users. The issue is that emails are not being sent when a user creates/Uploads a document and share it with other users. Please refer below screenshot.

Further, emails from approval workflows are being sent properly.

Do i have to look into exchange server or sharepoint needs to be configured?

Please suggest a workaround.

I am doing user profile service application migration, I have followed steps as mentioned in MSDN and able to get user profiles except few metadata properties. I have tried to Run the “Move-SPProfileManagedMetadataProperty” commandlet on each of the missing properties

but still it is not showing skills, ask me about... fields values
