missing site definition ID 6215

hi -

I am in the process of upgrading from 2010 to 2013.   When testing the content database, I found that I have 100+ sites missing ID 6215.   It seems that this is the old Project Server 2007 template ( PWS (SetupPath=SiteTemplates\PWS)  "Project Workspace").   Is there any way I can get that added to 2013?

Office documents does not open in the default office application from Search Results

1 WFE + 1 App Server + 1 server for OWA + 1 separate DB server make up our DEV SharePoint 2013 environment. We migrated many web applications from our SP 2010 environment to SP 2013 environment. Client integration is enabled and "Open Documents in Client Applications by Default" feature is enabled at the site collection level. OWA is enabled and working on the search results, such as showing preview.

From the document libraries, if I open office documents like word, excel and PowerPoint, they open in the respective office applications. However, from the search results, when I try to open by clicking on the result, it opens on the browser.  I want OWA to show document preview but still want to open the document in the default office application. How to overcome this?

I have IE 8.

SP site becomes unresponsive unless Application Pool is recycled

Everyday random SP site becomes inaccessible to users connected via WFE. Sometimes it's whole site collection, sometimes it's specific subsite. Common symptom has been high CPU usage by w3wp.exe process (AppPool) on affected WFE. After couple minutes of wait time, users get error message: "Something went wrong ....." Upon check with correlation ID, it seems like request is waiting, possibly on DB; but when I look up on DB and App servers, there is not hike in system resource or error logged.

We are able to temporarily fix it by recycling AppPool on affected WFE but unable to find root cause and solution. Best bet looks like to open case but wanted to give a shot or atleast try to identify the source of issue.

task synchronization in SharePoint Server 2013

I looked around for an answer for this and did not find anything definite. For the "Farm Level Exchange Tasks Sync" to work on SharePoint Server 2013, the version of Exchange has to be 2013 correct? I have gotten to the final steps of setup and cannot seem to find or run the script "Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication." The Exchange version we are running is 2010. Thanks in advance.

Problem Creating a new Site

I installed the SP2013 myself and am struggling through it trying to get issues resolved - it is not in production.

When I try to create a site - I get an error then file not found.

When I look in the error log on the server I see the following -

Alternate access mappings have not been configured.  Users or services are accessing the site http://sharepointtest with the URL http://172.16.5.37:17992.  This may cause incorrect links to be stored or returned to users.  If this is expected, add the URL http://172.16.5.37:17992 as an AAM response URL.  For more information, see: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=114854"/>

Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Task list not aggregating to My Sites Tasks

I have a task list whose items are not showing in the Tasks on My Sites. This list originally was not being crawled in the search but I changed the List Settings to allow the results to show.

I can search an task and it will show in the results but does not aggregate to the Tasks.  Is there something that has been flagged that I need to change?  I have reset the index on the server too and completed a full crawl but this doesn't seem to have helped.  I am a Site Collection Administrator so permissions shouldn't be an issue.

Office Web Apps - working in other browsers but not Internet Explorer

Hi there,

I have office web apps on my SharePoint 2013 environment.  The previews work file when hovering next to a document but if I try to open it, I get "Sorry, we ran into a problem".  It looks as though Excel files open okay but I have tested Word and Powerpoint documents and I get this error.  Also, it only appears to happen in Internet Explorer - Google Chrome and Firefox are okay.  Any ideas?

Hi

 I am working in a sharepoint migration project. We have migrated one SharePoint project from moss2007 to sp2013. Issue is when we are clicking on Popularity trend > usage report,  it is throwing an error.

Issue: The data was not being processed to EVENT STORE folder which was present under theAnalytics_GUID folder. Also data was not present in the Analytical Store database.

In log viewer I have found the bellow error.

HIGH -SearchServiceApplicationProxy::GetAnalyticsEventTypeDefinitions--Error occured: System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party.

I have verified few things in server which are mentioned below

  1.      Two timer jobs (Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing, Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Import) are running fine.
  2.      APPFabric Caching service has been started.
  3.       Analytics_GUID folder has beenshared with WSS_ADMIN_WPG and WSS_WPG and Read/Write access was granted
  4.      .usage files are getting created and also the temporary(.tmp) file has been created.
  5.      uasage  logging database for uasage data being transported. The data is available.
Please provide pointers on what needs to be done.

OneDrive for Business notifications

Hi guys,

does anyone know of a way to disable the process of granting managers administrative access to a deleted subordinate's OneDrive account? At the very least, can the email notifications be turned off? Example below:

User X's OneDrive for Business will be deleted in 14 days. As their manager, you're the temporary owner of all documents saved to their OneDrive for Business. That means you still have time to copy important documents to another location, if you choose. Otherwise, the documents will be permanently deleted. Go to Bill Rankin's OneDrive for Business at https://domain-my.sharepoint.com/personal/user_domain_com/_layouts/viewlsts.aspx

3. $a | Add-SPUserLicenseMapping

4. Enable-SPUserLicensing

5. Set-SPWOPIZone -Zone "internal-http"

Still, it is not showing the panel and not editing any document.

authentication in specific site collection

Hi, I have a default web application running and two site collections inside. I am trying to set different groups to authenticate to these site collections. There is only the option to setup groups in the web application level but not in the site collections.

I am talking about restricting authentication in the sites collections.

for example , web application hxxp://company.com and two sites collection  hxxp://company.com/sites/one andhxxp://company.com/sites/two

I would like to have a certain group of domain users to authenticate to the first site collection and another group to the second site collection. Then there is a way from site collection settings to give permissions to the content inside.

Thank you.

Apps will not load properly

$

Here's the deal...I have fully configured apps in 3 2013 environments up to this point and this time around I cannot get apps to load properly.  I get the error below in the server application log.  In short it is an Internal Server 500 error and these are the relevant lines (I think):

Exception type: UriFormatException
Exception message: Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed.

My setup is as follows (as it has been in the last 3 environments I have built where apps is working):

1 x SharePoint 2013 Web server

1 x SharePoint 2013 App Server

1 x SharePoint DB Server (SQL 2012 R2)

I have configured Apps by creating the App Management and Subscription service, and creating a new web application with no host header that is listening on 443.  I have a load balancer that is also listening on 443, which has the web server on port 443 as its only load balanced node.  DNS points all request to *.appdomain.com to the load balancer on 443 then to the back end web server on 443.  I have the app domain and app domain prefix set in SharePoint CA.  I can to a site collection and browse the SharePoint App Store, install it, but when I launch it it shows me the app, but only the text.  There are no images.  And each time I try to launch the app there is a corresponding event log ASP.NET 4.0.30319.0 error 1309 which indicates the following:

Event code: 3005
Event message: An unhandled exception has occurred.

Trying to find the "Web application url" for stsadm tool

Hi all, I am stuck trying to modify the people picker tool and wanting to run this command:

stsadm -o setsiteuseraccountdirectorypath -path <Valid OU name> –url <Web application URL>

I'm first trying to run stsadm -o getsiteuseraccountdirectorypath -url <Web application URL> to verify what is there currently, but no matter what URL I put in there, I get

"There is no top-level Web sit named xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

I have also checked the Central Administration --> Manage Web Applications and tried all the URLS listed there with no luck

Can anyone tell me how I can determined this value so I can execute that GET command?

thanks

Unable to connect to sp2013 - after enabling anonumous user and attempting to set the theme to publish for anonymous users

The site was working fine until :( I set up the anonymous user access and wanted to have the site theme for the anonymous users to be the same as logged in users. With SPD 2013 I checked out the master page and checked it back in to enable publishing of the theme for anonymous users. The master page was edited to allow the CSS page associated with the theme to be persistent (I thought). That did not work so I undid the edit. The site was working.  Then I did  a reboot after removing unneeded roles from the server (Windows 2012; SharePoint 2013) on a VMWare instance. The roles removed were WSUS: WDS: After every reboot I have to start many SharePoint services... In the past after starting the services the site comes up. Not this time. I have searched for solutions and I need your expertise. Thank you in advance.

After the reboot SharePoint 2013 throws Internal Server Error 500.  I enabled Failed Request Tracing and the log generated is:

How can I access User Profile Services in SharePoint 2013 using powershell

I tried this code to access user profile information:

add-pssnapin "Microsoft.Sharepoint.Powershell";
$serviceContext = Get-SPServiceContext("my central admin");
$profileManager = New-Object Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileManager($serviceContext);
foreach($usrProfile in $profileManager.GetEnumerator()) {
Write-Host $usrProfile.AccountName "|" $usrProfile.DisplayName;
}

But I am getting these errors:

New-Object : Exception calling ".ctor" with "1" argument(s): "UserProfileApplicationNotAvailableException_Logging ::
