Content Deployment failing with error message ‘Exception of type 'Cobalt.ErrorException' was thrown.’

Hello,

We have created a Content Deployment job for our upgraded SP13 site. Following is the error:

Exception of type 'Cobalt.ErrorException' was thrown. *** Inner exception: Exception of type 'Cobalt.ErrorException' was thrown.

The object for which this error is being thrown is '/FormServerTemplates/Forms/template.dotx'.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

SharePoint 2013 SkyDrive and Sites links are incorrect

Hello -

I recently changed the port used by MySites in SharePoint 2013.  I updated the AAM with the correct site (ex: https://XX.XX.XX.XX:444/ and I also updated the My Site Host to the address as well as the personal site location to be https:/XX.XX.XX.XX:444/personal.   IIS bindings have been updated to port 444 for the mysite and I have modified the firewall ports to allow traffic to 444 as well.

When I go to the site the top links for Newsfeed and My Profile are 100% correct.  SkyDrive and Sites links are still showing the old address. Also, the profile pictures used in the Newsfeed are linking to https://xx.xx.xx.xx:444/Person.aspx?accountname=<DOMAIN>%5C<USERNAME>.  Which should be right but showing as broken.

If I click the link of the SkyDrive and just replace the link it produces with the correct link I get to the page with no problems.

I have done iisreset, and I have rebooted the server.

MySite is a seperate website from our portal site.  Portal site is on port 443 and I'm trying to put the MySite on port 444 instead of port 80 which is where it was when it was working fine.

What is the deal?

My Product Key is "invalid" when installing sharepoint server 2013

hi, 

am getting the below error :


"This product key isnt a valid ms office 2013 product key.check that you have entered it correctly."

 When i tried to reinstall sharepoint server 2013.

even though the same prod key was used in other boxes which has sp 2013 is successfully installed.

 what may be the reason for this .

help is appreciated

I am setting up a SharePoint 2013 site (on Server 2012 Std). I have a SQL Server 2012 SP1 store, but need to access some SSAS cube data from a SQL Server 2008 R2 instance. I have installed the Microsoft Analysis Services OLE DB Provider for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SQLServer2008_ASOLEDB10.msi) as mentionedhere. The package installs successfully and "C:\Program files\Microsoft Analysis Services\AS OLEDB\10\msolap100.dll" exists, but the directory "C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.AnalysisServices.ChannelTransport\" does not get created and then of course microsoft.analysisservices.channeltransport.dll does not exist. What is happening here that part of this installation apparently is not working?

cannot upgrade a site collection

when im trying to upgrade a certain site collection I get this error

Upgrade is currently disabled for your site collection. Please check back later to see if it has been unlocked for you.

tried

$site=Get-SPSite <URL>
$site.AllowSelfServiceUpgrade=True but PS came back with an error

True : The term 'True' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check
the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

Critcal Event Viewer Error - The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.CustomDictionaryDeploymentJobDefinition (ID ***) threw an exception

Hi there,

I am getting a Critical error in my event viewer as below. 

Other posts have suggested resetting the index and doing a crawl but I have done this many times and still get this error.  I have even deleted my Search Service Application and started again but still the same thing.

Any other ideas?

WSS_Content is too old and upgrade is required in SharePoint 2013 Manage Database Upgrade Status

After complete an regular hotfix upgrade on SP 2013,  I see two 'WSS_Content' databases in the "Manage Database Upgrade Status" page:

DatabaseTypeStatus

WSS_Content Content DatabaseNo action  required

WSS_Content MetadataWebServiceDatabase       Database is too old and upgrade is required

I Looked up and found this:

I tried command in SharePoint Management Shell:

Upgrade-SPContentdatabase  WSS_Content

Also with different flags but it always return this message:

 " the WSS_Content database does not need to be upgraded"

How can I fix the 2nd WSS_Content upgrade issue?

Having issues trying to use PS to automate the SharePoint 2013 Farm creation

Issues

 I have SP 2013 and the above is for SP2010…?

 

After the above snippet completes with no apparenterrors, I go to Manage Service Applications, and I only see two Service Applications, 1.) Application Discovery  and Load Balancer , 2.) Security Token Service Application

 When I run the Farm Wizard manually , via the GUI, all the missing Service Applications are now appearing.

 Is this an known issue, or am I missing some values for getting this to work on SP2013…?

When I try to search a content within a web application with host header it shows me Null Reference Exception but when I use the hostname in the url the search works well.

The Web Application Configuration is as follow:
Web Application Name: SharePoint 80
Host Header: None
Port: 80
Authentication Type: Claims Authentication
Zone: Default

Settings of Extension of Web Application
Web Application Name: SharePoint 80
Host Header: MyPortal.MyOrganization.com
Port: 80
Authentication Type: Claims Authentication

Search Settings:

contributers cannot see multiline field values in edit form

Hi everybody!

 

I have a sharepoint 2013 farm with sql server 2012. In one of lists users with “contribute” permission

cannot see multiline field values in display form. I wonder that they can see values in edit form and that it just happen for some items!!!

and of course I wonder users with “read” permission did not have any problem!!!

base on this paradoxes I cannot even guess what cause the problem…

 

Any solution???

Does performance point support effective username on https in sharepoint 2013

I see that analysis services effective username is supported from Sharepoint 2013.

In Central admin==> manage services==>Performance point service app there is a note saying effective user name is not supported in https or powerpivot. 

But in the technical documentation it says only about power pivot http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219741.aspx but not about.

My question is does performance point support effective username on https in sharepoint 2013

We want   “forcing” SharePoint to push User Profile data to visitors by marking the users as active in the User Information List with the STSADM -o Sync -IgnoreIsActive 1 command. These approaches are probably only suitable when we want to fix-up access for a small group of “inactive” users or by exception. How can we fix-up access for a big group of “inactive” users ??

SharePoint 2013 Migrated User Profiles We're almost ready

Hello,

 

I ran into a problem with the User Profiles Service after migrating our SharePoint 2010 environment to SharePoint 2013. 

 

The problem is that the existing (migrated) user profiles aren't created correctly, so the Newsfeed is stuck on "We're almost ready". I've checked several blog posts on the internet and checked the following settings:

  • Distribution Cache is running properly
  • Self-Service Site Creation permissions activated
  • A Managed Path is configured
  • In the User Profile Service Application all authenticated users are able to create personal sites
  • MySite Host is set correct

When I remove a user profile, or add a new user, the user profile is created just fine.

 

I’ve checked the difference between a migrated user profile (one that is stuck on We’re almost ready) and a new user profile (one that is created just fine). The main difference is that the user profile property “Feed service provider defined identifier” is empty in the migrated user profile.

Any suggestions to fix this problem?

Facing error while creating PerformancePoint Dashboard in SharePoint 2013?

I am not able to create Performance Point Dashboard site in SharePoint 2013, while creating facing this error:

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

How to search :into \\mycomputer\Users

Hi all,

Is there a way to configure SharePoint Search like this :

When a user A search,  the content source must be configured to search in folder \\mycomputer\Users\A

When a user B search,  the content source must be configured to search in folder \\mycomputer\Users\B

Is there a solution to configure it automatically, or i must have to inform all the path ?

MySites for non-Active Directory users

Hi,

we are planning to provide a collaboration farm for

  • internal users (AD)
  • external users (external AD, no-trust relationship)

We plan to authenticate users via Claims/ADFS. The idea is to provide a MySite-Farm. 

Questions

  1. Are there any issues with providing MySites to non-AD users?
  2. Are there any limitations for providing MySites to non-AD users?
