Newsfeed Tasks

Hi all,

Quick question...I noticed the Tasks feature in Newsfeed and it seems to be working for any tasks assigned to me - but only tasks...I cannot see any other items from custom list that has a field name 'Assigned to:' and it has my name against it.

Does it only work with 'Task' type list and not other types?

Thanks!

Workflow 404 Not Found : Accidentally Setup as HTTPS only

$

After installing Workflow manager, I tried to register the site and received an error.

After further investigation into IIS I realized that I accidentally setup HTTPS only and not only HTTP.  I changed the binding, did an IIS reset, added a host file entry, tried the -scopename switch, nothing works.  I get the following error:

Register-SPWorkflowService : The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

I am able to navigate to http://servername.site.domain:12291 and it displays the XML.

How should I proceed? Am I missing something that I need to change other than the binding?

Cannot register SP2013 to a Workflow manager 1.0 server

I am trying to register workflow manager on my SP 2013 server.

situation:

we had workflow manager 1.0 installed on a server.  This server died and we don't have a backup of it (on purpose, it was not an important server).

Also if I do a get-spsite I can see https://sp.domain.com/

so I am not certain exactly what this error is referring too.

Now I installed workflow manager 1.0 on a new server and setup a workflow farm.  I can access the workflow website on the http port from the sharepoint server just fine.  Also if I do a get-spsite

PS C:\> Register-SPWorkflowService -SPSite "https://sp.domain.com/" -WorkflowHostUri "http://server-webapps:12291" -AllowOAuthHttp -Force
Register-SPWorkflowService : The remote server returned an error: (404) Not

SP2013 “Create Service Applicationt” and “Service Applications’ Property” buttons are disabled

Hello,

  • I’ve verified that I am local admin on the server that is hosting central admin.
  • I run the browser as admin. In fact I am using Central Admin on the start menu. The UAC is disabled on the box any way
  • I run the browser on the machine that is hosing CA. I've tested in on many other machines.
  • I verified and my user is farm admin. That means I can see my logged-in user listed in CA->“Manage the farm administrators group”
  • IE Enhanced Security is off

Still I cannot create a service application or see any service application’s property. How to find where exactly is the problem?

Thank you

Uninstall "lost" feature

Hi, I was making first experiments in making SharePoint 2013 workflow and during all my experiments I made some mistake and 2 features left in site collection, one of them can even be activated and deactivated.

I can see the fetures in Site Settings - Manage Features, using F12 in IE I've got their IDs, but I can't do anything in PowerShell using these IDs (Uninstall-SPFeature -Identity), it says it can't find feature. Same for FeatureAdminTool - it can't see them.

So, how can I remove them?

What SharePoint features or function that depend on My Site Host

Hi

I like to use the social features in SharePoint 2013 but I do not have a need to use My Site at this time but I think there are certain social features that require My Site created for them to work.

Can someone help list out all the social features or SharePoint functions that are require My Site to work?

In case if there are any,  can I just configure My Site Host only and not give permission to users to create own MySite?

Thanks for any advice or comment

My Site - My Tasks - how to add more columns to view

Hi

When I go to My Site (User name - About me) and open My Tasks,  I see all my tasks aggregated there.  Any of the views there only show 2 fields - Title and Due Date.

I like to be able to add more fields like Start Date or Description to the view but I don't see anywhere in the Tasks Settings.  is there a way to add more fields in the view?

I don't think it can be done in IE but may be powershell or custom codes.

If anyone have idea or advise,  please share

Thanks

Migration of alerts to SharePoint Online

$

We are using AvePoint DocAve to migrate contents to SharePoint Online.

Problem is that all alerts are triggered and users can end up with a lot of alert emails. As I know there is no way that we can configure emails in SPO and have no control over turning on/off alerts in SPO.

What are my options for this scenario?

SharePoint 2013 with Office Web App 2013 - allow management of content type

Hi,

I've configured Office Web App 2013 with SharePoint 2013 and everything is working fine. When I click new document in document library, I can see flyout menu of "Word, Excel, Power etc" and can create/edit documents. However, when I go the library settings and change "Allow Management of Content Type" to true and then click the new document link in the document library, I get upload file option. I'm not sure if this is as designed or I've misconfigured something. Have anyone noticed this?

Thanks,

Migrating into a Hybrid SharePoint on premise and SharePoint Online

$

We currently have a SharePoint 2007 farm and are migrating to SharePoint 2013 on premise + SharePoint Online hybrid. FYI we are using AvePoint DocAve for this.

We are trying to get as much contents as possible into SharePoint Online and only keep the highly complex sites (eg, sites with complex workflows, custom web parts, full-trust infopath forms, email-enabled libraries) in SharePoint 2013 on-premise.

So the requirement is to 'split' a site collection in the source and move a portion of it to SharePoint Online, and the complex portion to SharePoint 2013 On-premise. For sizing guidance, the site collection I'm looking at contains 400 subsites that is nested up to 4 levels deep.

Level 0 is the root site, Level 1 sites are the direct subsites of root site, Level 2 sites are direct subsites of Level 1 sites, and so on until Level 4 sites. We have conducted an analysis of these subsites individually and know whether they can go to SPO or there are complexities that dictate they have to live in the On-premise world.

So question here is what is the best and recommended way to split this site collection and push as many sites as possible to SPO.

Missing web part

Hello,

We migrated a site from 2007 to 2013. Everything looks fine. However, when we try to access the content of a specific list we in the target SharePoint 2013 we get the following error:

Could not find the connection provider Web Part with ID "g_dbbf2940_a31a_4cbf_9e8b_8a0d55bdb9e9".

It appears that this list was using a specific web part for a look up feature and of course the web part didn't make it in the migration. My question is: how can I find which web part that is in SharePoint 2007 only using the web ID included in the error which looks like a GUID but it's not?

Thanks

Access denied, random pages in CA

$

Hi folks.

Yes another access denied issue, none of the existing threads have helped, and I need help.

I'm getting  on random CA pages

Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you.

The account is the setup account, local admin, SQL SA, SharePoint Farm Admin, sometimes if I restart the browser (clear cache) I can get access to the page.

I've tried with another account, and again random pages access denied.
I've tried with another browser, and again random pages access denied.

In most cases it's to a service app page; eg Configure User Profile Synchronization Connections, but I have access to Manage Profile Service, but may be not to "My sites settings" if I leave it a little while or close the browser I get access.

I've checked the Service App permission and manager, my account(s) are there.
I've checked IIS directory perms.
I've launched the browser as "Administrator".
This only affects CA, all my other web apps work fine.

I've tried from the local server, and from remote PC.

If I keep trying the link I eventually get access... 3-15 tries.

Any help appreciated.

Hardware Requirement for SP 2013 for 100 Users but many sites and functionalities

$

Hi,

We need to implement SharePoint 2013 containing the below:

  1. 100 users: 50 domain users and 50 forms authentication users.
  2. Holding 60 sites:
    1. 12 main site collections and 30 sub sites for intranet use with windows authentication
    2. One site collection with 30 sub sites for internet use with forms authentication
  3. Using SharePoint Search to crawl Drives
  4. Using SharePoint Web services for Mobile App

According to what I understand from Hardware and software requirements for SharePoint 2013 I have 2 options:

  1. Single server with SQL Server: 64-bit, 4 Cores - 25 GB RAM - 80 GB System Drive
  2. Three-tier Farm:
    1. 2 servers (Web Tier and Application Tier) each of: 64-bit, 4 Cores - 12 GB RAM - 80 GB System Drive
    2. One SQL Server: 64-bit, 4 Cores - 8 GB RAM - 80 GB System Drive

Is that right? If it is right, then which option is better for my requirements?

Thank you.

ACCESS SERVICES PUBLISH DB INTO SHAREPOINT BUT NOT WITHIN ACCESS

Hello Everyone,

I'm working on Access Services for Sharepoint from 1week and I could not find a solution yet.

I have configured the Access Services and it almost work ...

If I try to create a Access APP from SHAREPOINT it works, it creates it and tell me: hey it works, open it with Access to add some tables.

So I said: Wow it works.

BUT

When I try to create the Access App directly from Access 2013 it made errors.

I have no CLUE what the problem could be... I looked into the logs, but I cannot understand where the problem could be.

I have found only a string that maybe could be a huge problem:

"CANNOT FIND SITE LOOKUP INFO FOR REQUEST URI http://xxxxxx/AccessService.svc"

Thank for help :)

Skydrive pro error syncing over HTTPS - ICsiError: csierrWebService_AccessDenied (0x643)

Skydrive pro has stopped syncing documents on our SharePoint 2013 on-premises farm since we decided to change to https last week.

I configured the farm correctly purchased a wildcard certificate, ran through relevant IIS settings and alternate access mappings.

SP2013 over https works fine and we can sync all folders within any library but not documents using Office 2013 on our users laptops and not 365.

error -

We’re having trouble downloading this file. It may be too large or there may be a network connectivity problem. Please try again later.

ICsiError: csierrWebService_AccessDenied (0x643)

This is very urgent as field sales guys now cannot have literature available offline using the power of SharePoint with SkyDrive Pro.

Web App Pool Recycling

Basic IIS app pool question...

What is the reason behind recycling the web application app pools once per day?

In the same vein, why do we NOT recycle service application app pools on a timed basis?

December CU gives warning web application is configured with claims authentication mode however the content database you are trying to attach is intended to be used against a windows classic authentication mode.

Hi,

We are building our corporate intranet on a new SharePoint 2013 Enterprise edition environment. The environment has been updated up to August CU and I am implementing host-named site collections. Yesterday on updating the farm with December CU the following warning was encountered

The [web application name] web application is configured with claims authentication mode however the content database you are trying to attach is intended to be used against a windows classic authentication mode.

All articles point to this warning showing when upgrading from 2010 to 2013, however that is not the case here as this is a new 2013 farm. Also this warning did not come up when updating with August CU back in November. Not sure why this is coming up and what action to take further.

Thanks for your help in advance

Parameter name: encodedClaim error with claims authentication

Hello people!

We have set up a Sharepoint 2013 server and we are now implementing claims authentication with ADFS 2.0 (and some federation to Azure etc). Authenticating the user from both inside and outside works perfect, and we also sync the users from AD and join them with Claims users to get the whole duplicate profile thing sorted. But when a user login to the portal there is a weird error at the top I cannot figure out:

I cannot find anything in any logs, and I`ve tried everything to get it out of the way. Anybody has any directions to point to?
