init.js and core.js error on a sharepoint forms authenticated Login Page

Good day experts,

I am new in sharepoint development and I would like to know what causes the script error on IE8 for a init.js and core.js. I am using a forms authenticated login.
Early this morning I was able to browse the site with no problem. Until I did some configuration (using Central Admin) for AAM and created some new users. It did some access deny result to users but I managed to put it back. I am not sure about the other guys doing the configuration. I was asking them for any configuration they did and they said "nothing"
Tried logging in again and it worked fine again.
I don't know what happened but when I tried logging in again later, AND EVEN JUST BY LOADING THE custom LOGIN I have done, It causes a script error for INIT.JS and CORE.JS.

I tried accessing the site using Mozilla and it works fine!
Also, accessing the link in the web farm internally works fine too even with IE8 or FF3.
By the way, the link I was trying to access was a public IP which points to a load balancer on a web farm. and using MOSS 2007

Can anyone enlighten me with what is the cause of this and how this is fixed?
I don't want to staright away update files because i have no idea what is causing this problem.

Adding server to farm, web app not created on new server

The SharePoint configuration wizard completes without error, and central admin on the original server shows that the new server is part of the farm, but the web site is not created within IIS and the wss/virtualdirectories/80 folder is not present.

The is WSS 3.0 SP2 x64 on Windows Server 2008 R2.

There was a previous setup on this server that I had to rebuild.  Could something from that be blocking?  There is also Symantec Protection installed but I am not familiar with that.

Login issues with WSS 3.0

Hello,

I've recently moved from a SharePoint hosting to Server Solution. I am having issues with login. I am able to access the SP site by accessing http://localhost:port but not via http://site-address:port. The login prompt keeps on asking password and no matter what I try, it is not letting me in. 

 

Can someone help?

Setting up Alternate Access Mapping.

Hello Experts,

Recently, I have moved from shared hosting to a server solution to host my SharePoint (WSS 3.0) site. I have two sites. After a lot of struggle, I have restored the site from the shared hosting and it is up and running inside the server. Now my actual requirement is as follows. 

In the server I am able to access the site with the URL - http://site1.tld:port1 and http://site2.tld:port2. In the Shared Hosting environment, I accessed it via http://site1.tld (without port) and http://site2.tld (without port). So I think the same can be configured in this server, if so, how?

I referred a few tutorials and they says I need to setup ISA or a Proxy server and publish the URL. Well, in my current infrastructure, this is not possible. Is there any other way I can do this, to pull the SharePoint site, just by calling the http://site1.tld (without port) and http://site2.tld (without port).

Please help me and thanks in advance.

Warning Message + Login prompt when create a new document ..

Hi, 

I've been searching for days to solve this problem but i don't understand what's wrong...

When a user wants to create a new document in a library using the library template a message appears saying that "some files could be dangereous for the computer and we shouldn't open it if we don't where it comes from". (1)

Then, the login prompt appears again and user has to re-authenticate to be able to save the new doc (2).

So, i read that most of the time, this appears when the IE intranet zone is not set properly.

IE seems to be correctly configured (by GPO) but it doesn't work.

Does anyone know how to solve this ?

BlobCache for SharePoint Site not working

Hi,

I have configured blobcahe for sharepoint site for better performance. But I have noticed that it is not working and grown only 45 KB in size during the last 2 months. Also upon looking in blob cache folder I have noticed that only some of the extensions (jpg, css, gif) are cached in BLOB folder. FYI I have included included following extensions in web.config file

<BlobCache location="C:\blobCache" path="\.(gif|jpg|png|jpeg|jpe|jfif|bmp|dib|tif|tiff|ico|png|wdp|hdp|css|js|asf|css|js)$" maxSize="10" enabled="true" />

FYI: I have alloted 10 GB space for BlobCache folder which is enough for my environment.

Is there are any further setting which needs to be configured ? Any help and support in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

How to restrict Folder creation in MOSS 2007 for Document library?

Dear All,

We are working on MOSS 2007 document library. we have created Custom Folder Content types. users are having Contribute permission. They should not allow to create folders, but they can upload documents.

I tried with the custom level permission. but if I remove Add Items for List. they cannot able upload the files also.

How this can be possible?

MOSS 2007: Does Exporting /Copying Data from AuditData Table in Sharepoint Content database to another Database (warehouse) void support?

Hi there,

Recently I've found that the AuditData table in one of our Content Databases has blown out in size a fair bit so I'm going to audit trim. However prior to deleting a large portion of the audit data, I want to copy the data to another SQL database I use for warehousing.

My question is, if I did this, does this void my support with Microsoft? I understand that manipulating SharePoint data directly from SQL voids support but does copying data constitute as manipulating?

Note: For Audit Trimming I will bein using Stsadm trimauditlog command.

Hopefuly this is a straight forward question and answer.

Help with WSS - asking for credentials too often

Here's the problem - I sign in as a user to my WSS 3.0 site. I am an admin.  Months ago I uploaded a few dozen documents, using the same credentials as I still use.  SO I enter these cres when I login.  Then sometime later, I attempt to download one of the docs I had uploadd and it wantsmy creds again.  THis is a bit of a pain for me, and I know when my users come online that this will drive them batty.

So, how can I get rid of that second pop-up asking for creds?

Content and Structure Reports are not working in one of the Sharepoint Site Collection

Hi,

In the content and structure of one of the site collection queries like "Files checked out to me " and other similar queries have stopped working.

It was working previously and in other site collection of same application these queries are working. .I have checked followings......

1.All Publishing features required for this to work are active in the site collection and also at site level.

2. CAML query in content and structure reports are correct and same as in other site collections where they are working.

3. Publishing features in site are active.

4. There are no limit for number of results to be returned for the query.

5.I added new query "To show all checked out files” in content and structure reports but it did not work there in this site collection but worked in other site collections.

6. It is and was always in  production and we have not done anything like migration from somewhere else .It just stopped working on one fine day.

7. Nothing in the error log or event viewer........

Sharepoint Site Action Menu not working

Hello,

 

My site action menu is having problems.  The menu is dropping down; however when I click the links nothing happens. I am having the same issue with modifying the site settings - basically very few links work.  They are all visible but don't open when I click on them - nothing happens.

 

Any ideas why this is happening?

Distribution list, duplicate alias

I accidently deleted AD object for distribution list.

 

When I create distribution list from

"Chage group Settings" page and set "Create an e-mail distribution group for this group?" to yes, I get "The Directory Management Service reported the following error: Duplicate alias." I tried to delete distribution list from Central Administration -> Operations -> Approve/reject distribution groups, no luck either.

 

I tried stsadm refreshdms and got:

 

Error in application.

 

Any advice?

Hi community,


ive got a huge problem with my search service application. What kind of problem? -it doesnt work :-D

I'll get the following information right after a search action on any website in the sharepoint environment:

As I get through some configurations I always end up on the same error msg:

The search application 'blablabla' on server  'myserver' did not finish loading. View the event logs on the affected server for more information.

Eventlog is calling: 

The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.CrawlReportJobDefinition (ID 81bb06c6-642d-4f10-a1a2-8b68987fb42d) threw an exception. More information is included below.

The search application 'blablabla' on server  'myserver' did not finish loading. View the event logs on the affected server for more information.

Any ideas?

Before installingg SharePoint Services 3.0 SP3 and 2007 office Server Service Pack 3 on SharePoint 2007 SP1

All, 

I have a single farm server (Windows 2003 SP2) with its database running on a separate SQL 2005 server. This server has not been patched with any MS updates since late 2010. Backups for database contents and site collections are performed in daily basis. Inspire in the link (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/bb735839.aspx) I was trying to do a checklist or steps to follow so it can help me achieve a successful installation. The steps are:  

1) Find if there are any problems with MS updates prior installing SP3 on SharePoint server. Do you guys know of any update that might cause problems before and after upgrading to SP3?

2) Install Windows Updates for Operative System.

3) Install SP for SharePoint Services 3.0 

4) Install SP3 for 2007 Office Servers

If any of you have suggestions on what to do, add or modify please let me know,

Test and prod environment on the same farm - MOSS 2007

Hi,

a my customer has a limited budget and he cannot buy another MOSS 2007 license.

He has the license for the unique farm hosts in him servers. On this farm I've deployed a site with custom pages saved on the File System of the web server. My customer wants the same for test purposes, independent and separated from the prod site.

I think to change inside IIS environment the local path of the virtual directory _layouts, but I'm afraid is an unsafe solution.

Any suggests to me, in order to solve this issue? Thanks

Moving SharePoint 2007 databases from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008

Good Afternoon all, 

We would like to move our current SharePoint 2007 databases from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008. Our SharePoint server is running on a windows 2003 SP2 machine. The SQL server runs on a separate Windows 2003 SP2 box. Both version of SQL, 2005 and 2008, are up and running in the same SQL server. We are in preparations to upgrade SharePoint 2007 from SP1 to SP3. Before proceeding with the upgrade we thought it might be better to migrate all SharePoint databases to SQL 2008. There is a vast number of documents from different sources and it's kind of confusing since the majority of them depicts migrations from one sql 2005 server to a different 2008; we were discussing this microsoft KB (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512725(v=office.12).aspx) as the most complet information but as mentioned before there are so many documents but our case is a bit different . In my case both versions run in the same server but have different instance names. I have two main question:

1) Would it be better to migrate database before OR after upgrading Sharepoint to SP3

2) What is the best procedure/strategy to follow regarding migrating databases from sql 2005 to sql 2008 regarding our specific environment.

SharePoint Broken

Hello,

  • I have wriiten the following code in a button click :

  • Then I open the page . 
  • I attach the  process "w3p.exe"  & "owstimer.exe".
  • When the previous code is executing . The sharepoint crashed .
  • I have tried to open Central Administration or any webapplication . it gives me the following message

  • I check the event viewer and see the following error :

Central Admin site is not loading correctly

It seems that the css files are not loading correctly but, I am not sure....Any ideas? I cannot get following _layout to work when copying it to a browser at the end of http://centraladmin:1234/

When I do this on other SharePoint servers I get prompted to open or save the file. When I do this on the server that's having problems it just loads a white page.

how to move a document to a different folder in SharePoint

Hi, can someone advise how to move a document to a different folder in SharePoint? I am trying in SharePoint to move a document to a new folder, but nothing seems to be working. The editing bar in SharePoint does not help at all.
