Cannot setup Access 2013 Custom Web App connection to SharePoint 2013

Greetings,

I'm currently testing Access Service on SharePoint 2013. We have a SharePoint 2013 Enterprise web app and have the Access Services and Access Services 2010 service applications setup.

I also have the Business Data Connectivity, Managed Metadata, PerformancePoint, Secure Store Service and User Profile Sync service setup.

On my Office 2013 Access I have chosen the Custom Web App and have given it a name and the Web Location ashttp://sp2013.domain.com/. After a couple of seconds I get the bellow error

If you can't read the above screenshot then below is the error-

'server was unable to process request.--->An error has occurred. --->An error has occurred. --->The server was unable to process the request due to an inter error. For more information about this error, either turn on IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults (either from ServiceBehaviorAttribute or from the <serviceDebug> configuration behaviour) on the server in order to send the exception information back to the client, or turn on tracking as per the Microsoft .Net Framwork SDK documentation and inspect the server trace logs.

Why Oh why do I get this error?

I am the site collection administrator of this web app so I'm pretty sure it isn't a permissions issue. The web app is built using the builtin Developer site template.

Asif Rehamani makes it look so simple to create an Access web App on his YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0XAEIyB6iQ) but unfortunately I'm still stuck here.

Any help is much appreciated.

Followed Sites

Hi,

I changed the host URL of the web application used for My sites.  Everything is working except for Followed sites and Followed Documents.

They are still retaining the old links - new link is http://team but the URL in Followed sites = http://team.company.local

Clicking Stop Following does nothing.  Clicking the site itself brings up a message saying:

We hit a snag
This link doesn't work anymore, likely because the item was moved or deleted. You might have luck searching for it and following it in its new location.

I have found these logs from ULS when trying to click the Follwed site or strying to Stop Following:

FollowedContent.StopFollowing(http://team.company.local/sites/project11) : Local execution failed; Could not stop following the item http://team.company.local/sites/project11: Exception: ItemDoesNotExist : Item does not exist.

Original error: Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.FollowedContentException: ItemDoesNotExist : Item does not exist.

Cannot find site lookup info for request Uri http://mysites.company.local/User Photos/Profile Pictures/derek_MThumb.jpg.

I have been looked at the Msft article about the We Hit a snag error and it is not the case in my enviornment.  Database permissions for the web application pools are all ok.

I have restarted the whole farm to no avail.

Thanks

how to assign ownership of the term to one of its shared terms?

Hi everything,

I have created a term called "New to Company", then I added the child term "1st week", "1st 30 Days", and "1st 90 Days" under it. Then I deleted them since we decided not using them. Later, we want to use them again so I was trying to add these child terms under "New to Company". It will not allowed meto do it. I found these three child terms are under System-> Orphaned Term. When I select one of it, on the right side ofthe window, pleae see the pic below. Anyone please let me know how can I assign ownership of the term to one of its shared terms to make these three child terms back under the "New to Company" term?

Thank you in advance.

Advice - SharePoint Server 2013, Hyper-V, Building Server

Hello community,

I need some help/advice. I want to build my own server (sounds like a fun project) so that I can have a SP 2013 environment to work with and to set up (good practice). One of my main questions is does it matter if I have Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 as the host OS? Can someone provide pros/cons of either or good links to reference?

I was reading this thread: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/12046cd5-fe96-4ca8-96f0-f842a9d9cca4/creating-virtual-machine-for-sharepoint-2013?forum=sharepointadmin

From it, I got some solid advice about using Hyper-V to create separate VMs for SharePoint, SQL, and the DC.

I'm really looking for some general guidance on this and if anyone who has done this can share some insight on potential pitfalls, things to look out for, etc. Thanks.

Unexpected error after enabling HTTPS on a webapplication for most users... but not all

Hello,

I have an issue with the configuration of SSL for a webapplication in SharePoint 2013. The webapplication originally is created using a hostheader on port 80. Now, we want to switch to HTTPS.

We have a wildcard certificate *.domain.com.

This is what I did:

- Removed the HTTP binding in IIS and replaced it with an HTTPS binding with that wildcard certificate.
- In the Alternate access mappings in SharePoint, changed the default mapping from HTTP to HTTPS.

When I try this with the administrator => works!
When I try this with another user => Sorry, something went wrong with an unexpected error

So, I tried to do an IISRESET on all server => works sometimes. After that a user can login. But other users cannot.
So, I tried to reboot all servers => same result. Some users can login, some cannot.

What am I missing here?

Please find the ULS for the displayed correlation ID below.

In Sharepoint 2013 how do you set managed user properties, to a defined choice list, like in sharepoint 2007?

On our user profiles in SharePoint 2013 I' like to be able to set a defined choice list to the manage user properties like we did in SharePoint 2007.

Basically, I'd like to add a list of job titles, office locations, departments so that when modifying the user profiles they can only choose from the "approved" list of choices. We did this in SharePoint 2007 and it was called a "defined choice list" but I don't see that as an option when creating or editing the manage user properties. Ideally it would just be a list in SharePoint that would "lookup" the list choice, so I only have to create one list for each of the properties (job title, office location, and departments) so I could use the list in other places.

Proper upgrade procedure from 2007 - 2013 with Fab 40 templates

I'm currently migrating my MOSS 2007 server to 2013 I have gone through all steps to detach and upgrade to 2013 within my test environment, started by migrating to 2010 then from 2010 to 2013 which I was able to get the sites functional however I'm running into some problem with solutions that are no longer available for 2010 and 2013 sharepoint sites.

My existing 2007 server was based on the FAB40 templates and when I upgrade I have some problems where the templates are not found and I end up with some Correlation ID errors on a particular sub site which I'm having a hard time resolving because of missing solutions and I'm not able to access that site. I'm also seeing various errors where I'm missing templates when I run the 2013 health check so I'm trying to figure out what is the best approach to resolve these issues before I perform the migration? I have to keep the 2007 server in production until the migration is complete so I can't just uninstall the solutions from the exiting site.

How are people handling the FAB40 template problems?

How to migrate Solutions (wsp)

$

Hi there,

I have the following migration scenario:
The old Solutions from SP 2010 will be installed on SharePoint 2013 in (14 Hive).
Meanwhile the 15 Hive Version of the Solution will be developed.
After a few month the sitecollection will be migrated to 15 Hive (SP 2013 Mode)
and the new developed solution will be deployed there.
Everythink works fine.

But now we have the original SP 2010 Solution which is not compatible to SP 2013 (14 Hive) and some changes
have to be made.
How can we develop on a SP 2013 Server for the Hive 14.
Everythink in VS 2012 is made for SP 2013 (15 Hive) ?

Thanks a lot
Stephan

Push client from third-party domain to Office 365 online services - pre-authenticated (SSO)

Hello,

I have spent a huge amount of time reading examples and documentation to get to grips with the various authentication methods used to connect to Web Services and enable Single Sign On. I've noticed that most of these examples assume you are operating locally to Active Directory and have done my best to decipher it all and get things working externally!

Before I ask my question.. here is an overview (to avoid getting answers that won't help me).

My environment

> I am developing on an external site that runs Apache. I am using PHP, cURL, SOAP, Javascript
> My development environment is not local to any Microsoft hosted product. e.g. it's not on Active Directory, it's not going to use ASP, .NET, Visual Studio or anything like that. I'm not developing a C# application.

> To clarify,  I am on a third part external host and I am trying to achieve communication with our Office 365 Medium Business account that is purely hosted on Microsoft.  We don't have any linked local services of any kind. It's purely, our third-party host talking to Microsoft's online services.

What I've achieved so far

> I have established communication to the following services:-

a). EWS (Exchange Web Service) - I can read e-mails, send them, access Calendar using PHP,cURL,SOAP and sending class based object requests. All fine.

b). I can connect to Sharepoint (Sky Drive Pro) and browse, read and download documents using PHP,cURL,SOAP.
I'm using the Claims-Based Authentication method here and can get the FedAuth and rtFA cookies and use them in headers to make requests to the ListData.svc services (and so on). I sent requests using the oDATA protocol. All fine.

(By the way, thanks for providing so many useful PHP/cURL/SOAP examples for us *add sarcasm*)

My problem (help!)

Apart from having a huge headache and lack of sleep I'm struggling to achieve one simple thing - Single Sign on. I am aware that our server can talk to microsoft's server via Web Services by asking the client for their credentials and using the FedAuth and rtFA cookies to send subsequent requests. However, the client gave us the credentials soour server could talk to Microsoft. If they then click a link from our software to go to Microsoft's site they still have to log in.

So my question is this:

Given I have the FedAuth and rtFA cookies and I know the user's credentials how on earth do I then pass the user seamlessly from our third-party host to microsoft.com (be that [domain]-my.sharepoint.com or outlook.office365.com etc) by using the data we have collected.

Thoughts running around my head are...

  • Do I use the cookies to get another token that I can then use to forward to Microsoft?
  • Can I use some kind of Digest header given there might be a cross-domain issue if I did the Javascript SP. solution?
  • Is SAML something I need to look at? (I havn't gone there yet and thought it best to stop and ask Microsoft before I did even more reading!)

I'm really trying but I've come to a dead end and need to know the path I take next.

Hope you can help, thank you!!

Adam

How to know whether file is modified or metadata from SharePoint Document Library version history

I have uploaded a document in document library. I am writing code to retrieve the items from the library only if document is modified, not the metadata.

So if for an item only metadata is modified then it should not come, if document is modified then it should come. I tried from version history but it doesnt work. Any idea?

I have a Newsfeed that works fine except that it doesn't email the mentioned users with notifications. Notifications also do not work for personal feeds. However, all other alerts and emails are being sent fine.

Any idea why this would be?

I followed the documentation on setting up exchange 2013 and SharePoint 2013 for task synchronization. When I try to sync the tasks to outlook, i get an error telling me that the user mailbox on exchange may not support task synchronization. when i look in the ULS logs in sharepoint i see the following error:

An operation failed because the following certificate has validation errors: Subject Name: CN=localhost.localdomain Issuer Name: CN=localhost.localdomain Thumbprint: 5D64E20B424D4A613288024734CAD805A1BD7B0E Errors: SSL policy errors have been encountered. Error code '0x6'..

Problem is i don't know what certificate this is reffering to. Has anyone seen this issue before or can give me any advise on tracking down this certificate? the cn=localhost cn=localdomain is confusing to me.
