Upgrade Content Database - Completion Time
Hi Gang,
I'm in the process of upgrading our ~59GB content database from SP2010 to SP2013. While I can appreciate this is a time consuming task is it supposed to take upwards of 24 hours? I started it the other day and it's 4.19% complete and on step 18/129 however it's been running for 24 hours. I've run this before and it got to 4.9% at 48 hours before my development server reset for Windows Updates. Is there anything I can do to speed this up? Both SQL server and the SharePoint server seem to have enough system resources.
If it helps I get a lot of these errors in the Windows Application Event log...
Unknown SQL Exception 2812 occurred. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.Could not find stored procedure 'proc_GetSitesFromSIDs'.
A quick Google search didn't yield similar errors.

Error on setup when installing SharePoint 2013
Hi
I downloaded SharePoint 2013 from my subscription account on MSDN.
When i run setup.exe and get an error message
"Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupt or not available. Run setup again from the original source disk or download location."
I have downloaded the file twice now and i get the same error. Seems like the installation package on the site is corrupt. Is there another download location i can use to obtain the software.

Active Active SQL Cluster For SharePoint?

For SharePoint - Are there any known limitations for Active-Active SQL Cluster?
1)Are there any Microsoft Recommendations on wether to use Active-Active or Active-Passive SQL Cluster for SharePoint backend.
2) In Active Active Mode for a two node SQL cluster - is it possible to put few sharePoint databases on one node and rest on second?

Cache cluster is down, restart the cache cluster and Retry
Hi Guys,
Getting an intermittent error appearing in the event log that states the following:
The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob (ID <GUID>) threw an exception. More information is included below.
Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.IsRepopulationNeeded: Cache cluster is down, restart the cache cluster and Retry.
This doesn't appear to be happening every time the timer job runs. It might be an hour between occurances or it could be up to 6 hours.
Reading up on this, the suggestions appear to be restarting the distributed cache service + other stuff. The thing is, for the most part, the cache service appears to be working. I am getting this error on multiple environments, patched up to the March 2013 uber update.
Just wondering whether others have seen this and found a way to resolve it..

Help in sharepoint 2013 user profile service application
I am still very new to sharepoint, and I am trying to sync sharepoint with my company's active directory to get users from their active directory into sharepoint so that I can add users, any help on how to do this will be much appreciated.
One other thing, I heard that you have to create or edit the user profile service application but whenever I click on the user profile service application an error message pops up:

Transitioning a SP2010 Farm to a SP2013 Farm
Hi, i am at a client with a messed up SP2010.
It was apparently create for them to have a look at it a few years ago and people started using it, creating sites, setting permissions and now we sit on a 127Gb content db and there is no order.
So where do i start...
We installed SP1 and June 2011 CU. just to try and get some small issues out.
Next we will install SP2013 and configure site's according to a organisational structure they gave us.
The word DB attach migration has been mentioned but i don't think it is a good idea.
My Question:
How do i get their data from the SharePoint 2010 to 2013 environment?
i Know there is a few tools that can move data but is that really necessary?
Think it might be worth using a tool if the client do it themselves.?
They have a few Document Centers. (The landing age is a doc center) How do i handle that? i Have never had more than once Document Center in a farm...

How to cache the home page?
I have a custom fully branded SP2013 publishing site. It contains seevral JS, CSS files.
I want to cache the http://site/pages/homepage.aspx ONLY on IIS. I was referinghttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261797.aspx and http://www.iis.net/learn/manage/managing-performance-settings/configure-iis-7-output-caching but could not find any related to cahing ONLY the home page.
Any help will be appreciated.

Sharepoint 2013 farm search indexing server hardware requirement
Hi everybody!
I am configuring a sharepoint 2013 farm. I have a SAN with 20TB for all my databases. I find in microsoft site sharepoint 2013 farm indexing server a 500GB hard disk requirement. I wanna to know is this hard requirement for Index databases???
If this hard is for index databases, which one give me better performance: I save index databases such as all other databases in farm onSAN or save index databases on hard disk of search index server itself???

Filter Project Server custom field based on current user?
I've got a Project Server 2013 custom field, and I'd like to create a view that only shows me projects where the value in that custom field equals the current user. Simply put: I'm trying to find functionality similar to the [Me] filter in SharePoint.
Apparently, simply using [Me] doesn't work. How can I fix this?

SkyDrive Pro - Renaming folders and sync locations
I'm trying to understand the SkyDrive Pro feature. Of course it ain't really SkyDrive as all references point to the old Groove application. I like how Groove moved from Groove --> SharePoint Workspace --> SkyDrive Pro..
I can change the Sync location via the UI like explained here:

This doesn't help if I want to rename the sync folder of document libraries on my local drive.
There's two problems I have with the local folders:
- The sync folder name is trimmed to 35 characters. That makes it hard to distinguish different document libraries from the same site if the site name is long. I currently have a set of folders named like so: "<long sitename> ... - Doc" and"<long sitename> ... - Pro". These libraries are actually called "Documents and "Protocols".
- Different O365 Tenants create different root folders.
I m now wondering about problem one. I have found the Access (!) Sync DB under C:\Users\gaida\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\OfficeFileCache\CentralTable.accdb (no google results yet on the architecture). In that Sync DB I found all local locations under the SubCache table as well as the OutgoingEvents. Changing the local locations there doesn't work - SkyDrive Pro forgets about the folders right away and I have to re-synch them. That means those locations are not the right way to change stuff.
Has anyone any more insight information on how SkyDrive Pro works? I also found the secret Telespaces path with the *.xss files - these also look promising, are not editable with a text editor though.
Basically my question is how SkyDrive Pro works and how I can rename the local sync folders.

"Error: Not able to connect to search service to retrieve valid settings" from CHange Query under search criteria

I might made a big mistake by clicking Stop then Start action to "SharePoint Server Search" under "Services on Server" from Central Administrator. Then all my search results have error messages. I did reset Index and start all crawls. It didn't work. Please Help.

Some users do not see the news feed web part AT ALL.

I just started a pilot of SharePoint 2013 at a client. The issue we are getting is that some users do not the news feed web part at all. Another symptom of these users is that the links in the left hand side (About me, Blog etc.) do not work.
What I noticed is that these users sometimes get an AJAX error, research indicated that this has to do with MDS failures, not conclusive as other users get the site in a perfect condition
So what is the difference between these users? Some of them, the ones that are experiencing the issue, were involved in a test environment, also 2013, and the MySite feature works perfectly on that instance.
The Dist. Cache is running and the Process Identity Managed Account has full control over the UPA.
Both Instances I mentioned here are clean installs, not upgrades of a 2010 environment.
Anything I can look for?

How to change the default URL used by sharepoint from server name to FQDN?
Hi,
Im new to sharepoint and have just installed 2012 foundation and need to change the the URL from https://<servername> to https://FQDN .
I have looked around and the suggestion seems to be to go to Alternate Access Mappings, Select Edit Public Zone URLs and change the Default URL from http://<servername> to https://<FQDN>
But when I do this and try and go to https://FQDN I get an error Sorry something went wrong, an unexpected error has occurred, can anyone help?

Sharepoint 2013 active directory security groups authentication ot working

I recently upgrated from Sharepoint 2010 to Shaarepoint 2013 adn every things seems to be working fine until
noticed that all users are only able to see workflows created before upgrade an those created by them.
Permissions ar controlled by acticve directory security groups. I have changed to permission to full access bactiut nothing doing. Users with with administrator rights can view all items. The groups imported from active directory look I think a bit strange,

Account should be the same as Name, the same thing goes for Sharepoint groups. This is happens only fornew imported active directory groups and new Sharepoint groups.

SharePoint Lotus Notes Connector problems
Hello fellow SharePoint friends,
I had to setup a Lotus Notes SharePoint Connector for the first time for one of our customers. It is a SharePoint 2013 environment and I followed the technet article and blog entries for the installation. The Notes permissions are sufficent and i double checked the database connections by using the Notes client. SharePoint Connector Service is up and running.
If I try to crawl the Notes Databases I get the following ULS errors:

Please note, that the test123.nsf was added to check the error message, when a database does not exist. I also configured the connector to ignore security trimming when building the index, but error message are still the same.
I could not find any information regarding that error messages.
Has anyone experienced that problems and can help me crawl that databases?
