Hi,

I have tried to created a web application using central administration and after few minutes it show the page can't display error but shows in the webapp list. Once i tried to see the Genaeral settings it gives me the error "Updates are currently disallowed on GET requests.  To allow updates on a GET, set the 'AllowUnsafeUpdates' property on SPWeb." which i have solved using some powershell script. Now when i go to create site collection with any template then i got the following error message (from ULS log):

Host Named Site Collection in SP2013 - My Sites

$

I am using host named site collection for SP2013 implementation for my new client which I am doing for the first time. Before this, I have used path based site collections only. I need clarification on "My Site" in host named site collection.

I created a single web application as explained in the article using New-SPWebApplication powershell command. Then I created host named Site Collections forintranet, team and my sites within this web application using New-SPSite powershell command. For My site collection, I used "My Site Host" template. But when I wanted to activate the "Self Service Site Creation" for my site, there was no way to activate "Self-Service Site Creation" at "My Sites" site collection URL. Only URL available was of the web application in "Allow users to create site collections in defined URL namespaces." section on "Self-Service Site Creation Management" page in Central Admin. So does it mean than I should use separate web application for host named site collection for "my sites"?

Please help!

Thanks, DS

Duplicates in Navigation

Greetings,

I have a SharePoint 2013 web application setup and in it I have three new site pages added.

Of the three, two of them have duplicate navigation tabs which you see only when you access them.

It will make more sense if you actually access my SharePoint 2013 web app since it has anonymous access.

Access http://sp2013.christianfamily.biz and then go to Information or About Me. When you access either one of them, you will see duplicate tabs there.

How do I get rid of these duplicates? I never faced this issue in 2010 or 2007.

Thanks in advance!

Server restart failure after configuring site admin

I wanted to check out SharePoint Foundation 2013, so I setup a new Windows Server 2012, patched it, installed SQL 2012 with SP1, and installed SharePoint. Once I configured the site admin collection and tried to access everything appeared fine until the server was restarted. Upon restart, the server is unresponsive. You never get to the point of being able to login.

In troubleshooting this, I uninstalled sharepoint (safe mode seemed to work) and the server was back to normal. Install SharePoint again (reboot), all fine. Configure site admin collection (reboot), problem returns. Event log didn't show anything interesting. Safemode appears to work.

Anyone have problems like this? Could this be a problem with SharePoint not liking Windows 2012? This is kind of frustrating, since it's on a clean machine, single server/site, about as simple as you can get.

Thanks in advance.

RBS tables not created

Hi Guys,

I have difficulties in installing RBS for sharepoint 2013. I did the instruction as in: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee748631.aspx ; http://www.sp-blogs.com/blogs/adnan/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=9 ; http://blogs.architectingconnectedsystems.com/blogs/cjg/archive/2009/12/14/SharePoint-Remote-Blog-Storage-_2800_RBS_2900_-_2D00_-Step-by-Step-Install.aspx ; http://www.knowledgecue.com/pdf/ConfiguringRemoteBlobStorageforSharePointKnowledgeCue.pdf ;

(all of them propose the same procedure to install RBS)

I only have a stand alone sharepoint server (name:SP2013) with SQL server included (db instance name:SHAREPOINT and dbcontent name: WSS_Content) i had enabled filestream, provision blobstore and RBS_amd64.msi, i got the SQL RBS installed succesfully log BUT the rbs tables (mssqlrbs tables not created). I did try with RBS.msi from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26728 but the system says that the processor not supported, so i keep using the first RBS_amb64.msi

"msiexec /qn /lvx* rbs_install_log.txt /i RBS_amd64.msi TRUSTSERVERCERTIFICATE=true FILEGROUP=PRIMARY DBNAME="WSS_Content" DBINSTANCE="SHAREPOINT" FILESTREAMFILEGROUP=RBSFilestreamProvider FILESTREAMSTORENAME=FilestreamProvider_1"

(i even change the DBINSTANCE with "localhost" and it also show successfully installed log)

What did i missed ? :(

thanks

Sharepoint 2013 Office Web Apps Deployment Question

Hi

Our Sharepoint consultant has recommneded we use a separate server for web app deployment to make service pack deployment clean.

Our current config is separate 2012 servers for Sharepoint, sql, and fastsearch. My preference is not to deploy another server, rather, use the fastsearch server for this. Loading should not be an issue, our  active user count would be < 50 with up to 500 possible accounts.

>> Is he right ? What is the downside if i use the fastsearch server for the office web apps ?

Hello,

Im trying to migration a Sub-Site from 2010 to an new 2013 Server. I have already done a Database-Attach-Upgrade. So I have a working WebApplication with an Upgraded-SiteCollection including my Sub-Site. But I want the SubSite "Development" in an another WebApplication in a new SiteCollection. So I already tried it with export/import-spweb. But this overwrites creation date und users. My Idea was to move this site to an new SiteCollection within that WebApplication do a Backup and Restore that Backup on my new SiteCollection.

Possible?

Hi there,

I've run into a technical issue in which I can't open site settings or library settings and when I follow the correlation ID.. it returns with...

application error when access /_layouts/15/settings.aspx, Error=Multiple nodes with the same URL 'URL.aspx' were found. XmlSiteMapProvider requires that sitemap nodes have unique URLs

Has anyone ever dealt with this before ? is it just a case of editing a file? and where can I find the right file to edit ?

Kind regards

Jarrad

When accounts are disabled in AD, those accounts are moved to the "profiles missing from import" in the user profile synced service application. However, those account still show in the org chart.

Authentication Provider Missing

Hi,

I'm wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this issue?

We have a SharePoint 2013 Development Farm. So far everything works pretty good. We have some WebApplications runnng on HTTPS Urls (Default Zone).

Now, when I add a URL to e.g.: the Intranet Zone using Central Administration there is no Authentication Provider created for this Zone on this Web Application!

AAM Setting:

Auhtentication Provider Setting:

for my understanding there should be a Claims Based Authentication for Zone "Intranet" now.. but there isn't. Also running the SharePoint Configuration Wizard does not get any results. As there is no Auth Provider I can't log on using the Intranet-URL...

In SharePoint 2010 this was never a big deal?! Did I completely miss a big change in SharePoint 2013 concerning the Authenticatinon Providers?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks & BR,

J

Sharepoint 2013 User Profile Properties Loose Values On Edit

Hi Everyone,

I've come across an odd scenario with which I would appreciate any help. Whenever I edit the properties of a user profile, they save fine and get displayed fine on the user profile. But if I edit the user profile again, several properties including both custom and standard properties loose their values for no apparent reason and become blank. I have searched for this issue a lot but haven't come across anything as any search related to this brings up results related to the SharePoint User profile AD sync issues. Any help would be appreciated.

TF282808: An error occurred when sending status update to Project Server during synchronization.

I am integrating tfs 2012 with project server 2013 using claims based authentication mode.

When I create a task in tfs and submit it to project server, my task is seen in project server but its  Last submit staus under the project server tab remains failure.

Also i get the following error:

TF282808: An error occurred when sending status update to Project Server during synchronization. Returned error code: "GeneralUnhandledException". Contact your Project Server administrator and report the error code.

Any help in this regard will be very helpful.

Thanks

Moving SharePoint WFE & APP server to DMZ for External Access

$

Hi

We have got a two server SharePoint 2013 farm.

Server 1: WFE and APP Roles

Server 2: SQL Role

The sites have been implemented using FBA for external access.

We are planning to move only Server 1 (WFE & APP) to DMZ and leave the Server 2 (SQL) internal. I have implemented SQL Server using a custom port. What are the other ports i have to consider to open in DMZ.

We will be opening custom port for SQL, Exchange & DC ports. Any other ports do i need to consider?.

Am i correct saying because we have both WFE and APP roles running in one server which will be moved to DMZ so there will be no other SharePoint related ports to be opened between Server 1 and Server 2.

Thanks

After migrating from 2010 to 2013 a lot of our webparts are aligning justified bottom.  They look something like this.

Webpart

data              data             Webpart

data              data             data

We are using a blank webpart page and they are all aligned top in 2010.  Ideas?

RootSite and HNSC in SharePoint 2013

$

I was reading this TechNet article (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc424952.aspx) about Host-named site collection architecture and deployment and in reading it mentions that you need a root site in able to index content within the web application.  It then goes on to tell you how to create a root site collection but it looks no different than creating a normal HNSC.  Is there something specific that makes it a root site compared to any other HSNC you are creating?

Creating a root site collection:

New-SPSite 'http://rootsite.contoso.com' -HostHeaderWebApplication 'http://webapp.contoso.com' -Name 'Portal' -Description 'Portal on root' -OwnerAlias 'contoso\administrator' -language 1033 -Template 'STS#0'

Creating a HNSC:

New-SPSite 'http://portal.contoso.com' -HostHeaderWebApplication 'http://webapp.contoso.com' -Name 'Portal' -Description 'Customer root' -OwnerAlias 'contoso\administrator' -language 1033 -Template 'STS#0'

The only difference between the two is the URL for the site.  Am I missing something or is whatever the first site collection created considered the root site when using all HSNC?

Thanks,

Wes

Like button doesn't always work

$

When I navigate to a newsfeed and click the "like" button I sometimes get an error:

Something went wrong: We're unable to like this post for you right now.

This only occurs for specific users. I can click the Like button for majority of users, but a few will generate this error.

Looking in the diagnostic logs, the error message is:

Exception occured in scope Microsoft.Office.Server.Social.SPSocialFeedManager.LikePost. Exception=Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.SPS2SAppContextException: Recursion check failed.

That user gets a similar error when they click to delete that post. Anyone point me a general directon to troubleshoot this.
