I have a site with several libraries. All the libraries should inherit permission from the parent/site. However, for one library I would like to give permission to an additional user. How can I do this without breaking the inheritance?

Farm Recommendations - 30TB Video
Hi
We would really appreciate it if someone could please provide a recommendation for farm, network and bandwidth for our company which is interested in implementing SharePoint for the management of video content.
We would also need to accommodate concurrent users who may be watching any number of videos at the same time.
We have approximately 30TB of data and are very interested in the Asset library features available with SharePoint 2013.
Any suggestions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Site admin- You do not have permission to view membership
Using Sharepoint 2013 on office 365, I am a site admin and have verified I have Full control on my team site.
However, when viewing groups, I can view/edit permissions on site admin group but I can't even view members of other groups. Seems strange that I can change permissions on the site admin group, but not the less powerful contributor or view only groups.
When viewing the other groups i get "You do not have permission to view the membership of the group." Yet i have full control on the entire team site.

Changing order of columns in new Calendar entries
I have set up a calendar for our conference room reservations and I have created a column that lists all of the conference rooms. Users would click on the drop-down and select which conference room they want to book. This column is currently towards the bottom and I want it to be near the top. how do I move that up?
Also, how would I set restrictions? For example, if a conference room has no projector but a projector is requested, how do I prevent that room from being selected?
I am fairly new to sharepoint so I apologize if this is "low hanging fruit" that I should know already.

SharePoint server 2013 central administration become unavailable after installing active directory
I have SharePoint 2013 installed inside windows server 2008 r2 and it was working fine, but after I install Active directory on the windows server I try to aces the SharePoint central administrator but it gave me the following error:-
Service Unavailable HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.
So any idead of how i can re-configure the sharePoint , Sql server to use the AD users instead of the old users?

Error: Access Denied on an upgraded content database from 2010 to sharepoint 2013 - claims based auth misery?
After I took a windows based authentication / content database and copied it from my sql instance for sp2010 and to a new instance.. then created a new web app on the new 2013 box.. which seems to be set to claims based authentication.. and ran the import of the sql db..
If I hit the intranet site I get access denied unless using the system account.
Does anyone know if i'm missing a step here.. I believe it may revolve around claims based authentication which isn't/wasnt used before.

Upgraded 2010 Site Collection Doesn't Show a Search Box
Has anyone ever experienced any issues with upgraded site collections in SharePoint 2013 not showing the "search this site" search box?
If I create a new site collection in my 2013 farm, search box appears no issue. It's only the upgraded site collections that don't work.
Looking at the master page, the control is there, it simply doesn't render on the page. I don't have any sharepoint designer customized pages, and I'm using the seattle.master. But I've tried other master pages and no luck.
I've been reading that Search has to be configured correctly for the search box to appear, but as far as I can tell it is. It also works successfully on new site collections so I can only assume search is configured correctly.
Has anyone run into this? Would appreciate any suggestions as I've tried everything!

SharePoint administration component
I get the following error on SharePoint 2013 using server 2012:
The administration component for application Search Service Application failed with exception System.InvalidOperationException: This operation uses the SharePoint Administration service (spadminV4), which could not be contacted.
I have checked settings in the application services they look correct. I have changed settings in the application services for the search service and nothing. Still getting the error. Is there somewhere I'm missing to get this to work?

Sharepoint 2013 Contact List
How do I remove the Last Name field from a sharepoint 2013 contact list.
It is populated from the Title field in an ITEM content type however it doesnt seem possible to remove this or change whether it is required. Also there doesnt appear to be any validation showing that it is a required field even when shown on the entry form?

weird SMTP warning in event logs on SharePoint server?
I see many logs:
Message delivery to the host '199.59.243.105' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'yah.com.tw' for the following reason: The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt.
Message delivery to the host '211.20.188.150' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'pchome.com.tw' for the following reason: An SMTP protocol error occurred.
The SMTP verb which caused the error is 'RCPT'. The response from the remote server is '550 5.1.1 <qvtmooisu@pchome.com.tw>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in relay recipient ta'.
what are these? seems my server got hacked: someone is using the server to sent up emails. What SharePoint services will deliver these kind of emails? I set up incoming and outgoing emails following the SharePoint documents http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262947.aspx#section3 : basic scenarios not using Exchange server.

SSL error when trying to sync tasks to Exchange 2013
I followed the documentation on setting up exchange 2013 and SharePoint 2013 for task synchronization. When I try to sync the tasks to outlook, i get an error telling me that the user mailbox on exchange may not support task synchronization. when i look in the ULS logs in sharepoint i see the following error:
An operation failed because the following certificate has validation errors: Subject Name: CN=localhost.localdomain Issuer Name: CN=localhost.localdomain Thumbprint: 5D64E20B424D4A613288024734CAD805A1BD7B0E Errors: SSL policy errors have been encountered. Error code '0x6'..
Problem is i don't know what certificate this is reffering to. Has anyone seen this issue before or can give me any advise on tracking down this certificate? the cn=localhost cn=localdomain is confusing to me.

Flyouts in Navigation Snippets?
Hello everyone,
In the video linked below, the presenter adds a navigation snippet to his html master page. Then he simply hit a drop down to enable flyouts on his Top Navigation bar at the 12:52 mark of the video.
I tried to do this and I can add the Top Navigation snippet without a problem, but I do not have the same ability to add flyouts. There are no drop down options as shown in the video.
Can anyone help me figure out why I do not have the ability to add the flyouts and update the nav bar as in the video.

Excel Services - Other Web Locations option not available in my Dev Enviroment
Hello,
Set up dev environment on Server 2012 VM. Have Office 2013 Pro Plus also installed on the Server. The option to Save As - Other Web Services is not visible when trying to publish to my local SharePoint library.
What did I miss in the setup?

Duplicate results Get-SPSite

I have an issue with Get-SPSite which seems to be returning duplicate site instances.

As seen in the example, I perform a Get-SPWebApplication, pipe that into Get-SPSite and format a table displaying the URL and ID of the site. This gives me three exactly equal results, I have no idea why. I can access the site wihout issue, in Central Admin it is listed only once. I thought perhaps it was also displaying deleted sites, but Get-SPDeleteSite returns only one (different) site instance.
So what could be causing these duplicates and how can I fix this?

Need help with SharePoint2013 configuration

I am in process of designing a my SharePoint 2013 environment which will include this:
2 WFEs ( web and application tear, distributed cache, service applications)
1 SQL DB ( clustered)
1 WebApp server
On WFE server I want to use dedicated disk for logs, OS, and distributed cache service.
Could someone please tell me the steps to configure SharePoint2013 to use these dedicated disks?
like
L:\ drive for SharePoint logs
D:\ drive for distributed cache
Q:\ drive for search index data

SharePoint 2013 Product configuration Wizard failed to run?
Hi, Product configuration Wizard failed at Step 4 on SharePoint 2013 stand alone server.
Previously it was running successfully but today I am getting error while running Product configuration Wizard and it is failed at step 4.
below is the error:
“Failed to secure the SharePoint resources.
An exception of type System.InvalidOperationException was thrown. Additional exception information: Method failed with unexpected error code 1260. System.InvalidOperationException: Method failed with unexpected error code 1260.”
What is the problem?
