I am after some information regarding my sites/User Profiles.
I am just about to start configuring my sites in our organisation and would like to pull from AD the field job title along with others. I would then like to give users the option to edit their job title on their SharePoint my site. I will setup SharePoint
to sync information from Active Directory.
I then have the following questions:
The users job title in AD is Accountant the user then changes their job title in their SharePoint My Site to Chartered Accountant . What would then happen if I then went into AD and changed the users job title back to Chartered Accountant. Would this then update the users SharePoint My Site to Chartered Account?
What is the best practice and usual practice for sync direction for user profiles? What I want to work towards is a one time (also when new users join) initial import from AD of the users information and then allow users to modify their user information in SharePoint and either any modifications export to AD or AD is not modified and the modified values remain within SharePoint.
There seems to be very little info I can find online on how this would work and how to setup in an enterprise environment.
