User Profile MySites Photo Upload Issue

Hello,

I have recreated the mysites application on sharepoint 2013 reusing the old personal database for the application site collection.

When the application was first set up it was tested by some users to make sure that profiles could be edited and that photos could be added. This all worked fine.

After a couple days I received a note from a user that they could not update their profile photo. I tried editing my own profile. I can edit personal information in the text fields fine. The same as the other user, I can now no longer change my profile photo. I could remove the old photo but I cannot upload a new one.

I get the following error:

mysites profile photo upload error

I decided to test the other mysites features to see if anything else had problems.

I created a BLOG post using my personal profile. The text for the BLOG post was accepted fine.

I then decided to edit the BLOG post to add a picture to the post.

Attempting upload of an image, to add to the blog post, from my computer produced this error:

When I 'comment' on my own blog post, the old user profile photo appears associated with my comment even though there is no profile photo now associated with my personal site profile.

Something appears to be missing from the mysites application.

QUESTION: What does MySites require to allow uploading of personal photos in these contexts?

Thanks for any illumination.

Ps. I have found that deleting and recreating the personal site does not clear old data from the mysites database. I get the initial 'Were Almost Ready!' page, but when I edit my profile I still get all the old data showing.
