How to modify OOB template for document libraries to have version control already set?

Hello,

I like to create a custom document library template with versioning turn on automatically.  I have read this post, but I have some questions.

I can create a new document library, and activate versioning, but don't know how to save this list as template. I am new to this, and need help with this step. I am using SharePoint 2013.
