Anonymous access over port 80, editor access over 443

Hi there,

we are working on our "best practices" procedures for publishing SharePoint webs to the internet. Read/write access to information is via SSL/HTTPS. We are looking at publishing information to the internet and a primary question is: do we extend a web application to port 80 and allow anonymous access, or do we use a publishing site?
