I have two clients that have experienced some very weird behavior: When they have a SharePoint connected to Outlook, it seems as though Outlook is making "ghost" modifications to the SharePoint calendar. The clients are not opening and changing anything in the calendar, it is something that is occurring "automatically", without user intervention. In fact, for one of my clients this occurs each night at 9 pm (when the client isn't even near their computer), and Outlook modifies about 160 calendar items.
When I look at the audit log, it obviously shows that User X modified these items, at 9 pm. As far as SharePoint is concerned, User X did it. But I really think it is something from within Outlook that is modifying the the calendar items. Unfortunately, none of the visible fields actually changes, so I don't know what is being modified.
Although this would seem to be an annoyance and not a major problem, the manager for this group uses the calendar for vacation requests and has alerts set up for any modifications, meaning that he is spammed every night with 160 alerts. :)
Any ideas, suggestions? Anyone run into this before? Thanks!
