I just upgraded a WSS 3.0 farm to 2008 R2 and 64bit, and WSS 3.0 SP2 environment.
After this, the EML files are stuck in the SMTP Drop folder and not being picked up by SharePoint for distribution. So I tried to stop the Windows SharePoint Services Incoming E-Mail . Then that got stuck in the "Stopping" status. There are absolutely no errors or Information events logged regarding this. Please note that incoming email was working fine in this farm for the last 3 years.
I have already ensure that both WSS groups have Full Control to the Drop folder. And the Timer Service is running off the same account as the Central Administration site is, IISreset, reboot, tried removing the outgoing server and entering everything back in again...everything, and after a whole week of troubleshooting it is still stuck on "Stopping" status.
Is there a STSADM command I can use to force this to stop or start? Has anyone else had this problem where the above steps didn't fix it either?
