After installing PowerPivot on SQL Server 2012 SP1 I cannot find my instance of POWERPIVOT in SQL Mgmt. Studio.
Here is my situation described in steps:
- Installed SQL 2012 RTM (I didn't realize I needed the new service pack 1 for PowerPivot)
- Installed and configured SharePoint 2013
- Tried to install PowerPivot and failed
- Installed SQL 2012 SP1
- Installed PowerPivot for SQL 2012 SP1
- Installed SSRS for SQL 2012 SP1
- Re-ran the install for SQL 2012 to create new database instance for PowerPivot
- Un-checked the checkbox for creating a new SQL Database Engine (since I already had a db engine for SharePoint installed)
- Named my new instance "POWERPIVOT"
- Ran the PowerPivot Configuration Tool. Completed successfully.
- Turned on SQL Server PowerPivot Services, but I did not see a service named SQL Server Analysis Services
- Looked in the Farm Solutions Gallery to make sure the .wsp files were there. They were there.
- Opened SQL Mgmt. Studio and found that there was no PowerPivot database instance.
- I made a new connection to Analysis Services and although it connected and opened, there were no databases
What did I do wrong? How can I fix this? How do I get a named instance for PowerPivot in SQL Server 2012?
Thanks,
Alex
