After setting up Managed Metadata Service, I'm getting the following error in the UI of the Term Store Management Tool: "The Managed Metadata Service or Connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or Managed Metadata Web Service may not have been started. Please Contact your Administrator."
I've read several other similar posts and done all the things suggested there regarding restarting the service, resetting IIS, adding the service account via MMS permissions. None of that changes anything.
At the same time, I'm getting the below error in the Event Viewer Application log:
Event ID 6398: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Access to the path 'D:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\15.0\WebClients\Metadata\client.config' is denied.
This is a development environment with only a single service account in use. The error message cites this service account, but when I navigate to the config file, the account has "full control" permissions on the file and directory.
Any idea what's going on here? Any chance it is Windows Server 2012 related? That's the OS and I'm just finding my way around...
