My Sharepoint search database exploded to 60 GB (from a ~10GB content database), and no amount of shrinking seemed to help. I tried to reset the database, but the reset operation hung via both the web interface and powershell. Now the database is in a bad state, crawling has stopped for both an external request and a database reset that isn't actually working.
My Database only takes an hour or so to crawl, so I really don't mind just deleting the database and starting it from scratch. What's the best way to just delete it and start over again? Can I just delete the service and re-add it?
