Import AD pictures into SP2013 using Active Directory Import

Hi!

I'm relatively new to SharePoint and am trying to import pictures from our AD into SP 2013.

I know, there are lots of examples, articles, posts, etc. using the 'User Profile Synchronization Service' and 'Update-SPProfilePhotoStore'.

But my question is that is there any way to import the pictures when using the 'SharePoint Active Directory Import' synchronization setting in User Profile Service? If there is no easy method then is it possible to somehow update the PictureUrl column in UserProfile_Full table of Profile DB?
