It is mentioned that having SharePoint and active directory on the same server is not recommended since many functionalities such as my sites will not function correctly.
But in my case I have one machine for developing my SharePoint development environment , so currently I have a single VM that runs; SharePoint 2013, Sql server 2008 r2, visual studio 2012, TFS 2012 and active directory installed on a windows server 2008 R2 which have 16 G RAM & 4 processes.
So since it is not recommended to have AD & SP on the same machine , so what other approaches I can follow to integrate SP with AD ?
Secondly , as this is a development environment (not production environment) so will it still be reasonable to have AD & SP on the same server , or this should be avoided even for Dev environment?
