Dear all,
Microsoft kindly provides the SharePoint 2013 ISO & trial (180) enterprise license key which is really handy to already test-drive and prepare customer environment while waiting for the official Q1 release.
Unfortunately, deploying an enterprise farm will prevent "downgrading" to a standard farm once the license will be purchased leaving with the only option to backup the content, rebuilt the farm and re-inject the content (and do all configuration). On the other
side, while easily understandable business wise, they might be tempted to use enterprise only functionalities (eg : content catalog, managed metadata navigation, image rendering, etc.) they won't have afterward risking to comprise the integrity of the content
that will be restored on the standard license farm(s).
Some online retailers are already selling SharePoint 2013 standard license (eg: http://www.cdwg.com/shop/search/result.aspx?key=SharePoint%20Server%202013&SortBy=PriceDesc&searchscope=All) but I have no idea how trusty they are.
Basically it's not an issue about trying the product, the targeted customer will purchase it as soon as possible it's an issue about getting things ready / delivered for official launch with the license type that will be purchased (standard and NOT enterprise).
Thank you very much for your support.
