My organization is planning to upgrade to SharePoint Foundation 2013 from our current WSS3 environment. We currently have a single site collection and a single content database that has exceeded recommended size limits (over 200Gb). Our original plan was to move content to a second database and then upgrade some time in the future, but splitting the site collection will result in administrative problems if different sites have different URLs and different parent sites, and so I am looking for an alternative, such as upgrading first.
Does Foundation 2013 handle any of this better, and is there a recommended practice for dealing with a singlesite collection and content database that is already oversize?
Any help would be appreciated. If you need more detail, please just let me know and I will elaborate.
