SP2013 Foundation/SP2010 Server databases

Hi All,

This one should be pretty easy to answer I hope, but I'm just want to tap the collected TechNet forum wisdom before doing anything rash.

There's a SP2010 Server with databases on a SQL2008 server. I want to install SP2013 on a separate server, and put the databases on the SQL2008 server. 

Is this a neddy-no-no? I'm guessing that it shouldn't be, seeing as they're just databases sitting on a server, but maybe I'm not aware of something.
