I'm working on an application which adds PDF files to a SharePoint 2013 document library. Under SP2007/2010 you had to install an IFilter from Adobe for the documents to be indexed/searchable. I see that with SharePoint 2013 this functionality is
part of the product.
However I have some PDF files which contain a page with an image backed with a hidden layer of text which I would like to be able to search and these don't seem to work with SP2013. They work fine under SP2007/2010 using the Adobe filter. I tried installing the filter with SP2013 and it didn't seem to make any difference. Plain 'text' PDFs work just fine and are searchable by text on the same system.
Is this a known limitation of the new filter?
