I've recently installed SP2013 a handful of times and I'm having a problem with services.
If you use the farm configurator to install all the services, powerpoint conversion service app and workflow service app are installed. If you elect to configure everything yourself, the option to install these simply doesn't exist in Central Admin.
I've found no documentation or search results about installing these by other means (powershell/some other Central Admin locale), explaining their absence, nothing...
