I'm upgrading SharePoint Foundation 2010 to 2013. Can someone tell me whether, when the configuration Wizard is run am I attaching a backup of the 2010 database farm or creating a new 2013 farm? I've got a backup of the full farm from 2010. The overview of the upgrade process says "A server farm administrator installs sharepoint 2013 to the new farm. The administrator configures farm settings"
Why do I need to create a new farm if I'm attaching the old one then upgrading it once attached?
