"About Me" in Settings takes a restricted user to the top site, which I do NOT want.

This may be the reverse to many people's problems, but it is critical to the success of our Access web app.

The scenario.

Created a subsite.

Created a user group which contributor rights.

Broke inheritance from the main site.

Added user "User1" to the contributor group on the subsite.

At this point, User1 logs in using the credentials provided and goes to the subsite, where about all the he can do is launch the web app.

User1 can't log directly into the main site, and is greeted with a page informing him he doesn't have permissions.

All good.

However, I now find that the user can click on "About Me" in his subsite and view his profile IN THE MAIN SITE. NOT good at all.

What am I missing? Is there a way to prevent this "end run"? It is crucial that the use see ONLY his assigned materials in the subsite.

I also note that clicking on "Sites" takes this supposedly restricted user to the top site. How do I remove this function as well?

Thanks for any insight and/or help.

George
